I used to watch a lot of squash, and SquashTV had very competent commentators (Joey Barrington et al.) who came up with creative nicknames for most of the world top 10 players - stuff like "The Viper", "Hammer of Thor", "The General", "Colombian Cannonball" etc... I thought it was corny at first, but it stuck, and eventually even some players started to appreciate it. But for some reason, I feel the same wouldn't work with beach volley. Apart from the Vikings, of course :) The characters and stories just aren't quite as vivid, at least to the general public... I know that the McKibbins are trying to change that, but I'm not sure it's gonna be enough.
