Hi! There is a link underneath this video to the project instructions which lists the amounts of the beads needed. I have not been able to figure out how to put a bead on every drop in flat kumihimo. I do know that you need a cord "bridge" for a bead to catch under and in this particular weave pattern, those bridges do not exist on all the warps when you are working with them. However, I absolutely recommend experimenting! That is how I came up with this technique, just a lot of trial and error.

very nice, but how many beads will it take to do this? also kn a flat one what would it look like with beads on every drop?

If all that you are changing are the materials, then you should be able to follow the video instructions, especially if you are adding fewer beads, not more, but your braid will not look the same as in the video. However, since you are changing the equation a little, you will just need to do some experimenting and make sure that the beads are able to "catch" below the rattail.

I would like to mix 2 strands with beads and 8 with ratail... should I place the beads the same way you're teaching on this video? thanks!

Also keep in mind that the beaded strands will not always be those side strands, so your beads will be very sporadic and not in a solid line like the project in the video.

Ok just got it. It's a terrible looking bracelet in this case. One week trying this and it just looks horrible, it is not a pretty braid at all.

+celeste dietrich The number of beads will really depend on the size of the bead and the length of the braid you are wanting to make. I personally believe this video would be more instructional if you included the length of each strand and how many beads you are using on each strand to create an average 6.5 inch bracelet. The web site only lists the total amount of each item needed for this project. I know how to break this down because I know how to do Kumihimo. For a beginner it is unlikely they would know the necessary calculations for creating this bracelet, and could end up wasting costly materials.

I have not personally beaded a 12-strand flat braid and I have not seen it done. However, that is definitely not to say that it can't be done. I figured out how to add beads to an 8-strand braid just by experimenting and trial and error. It might be one of those cases that you just have to experiment.

I have tried so so hard to do this. I have watched the tutorial 5 times, tried it 3 times but it just does NOT work. I always get an extra bead in the middle or one sticking out more than the other on one side. I tried to see what the end pattern is on this video but it's impossible, it just goes way too fast. I have been on this video for a whole week now and will have to give it up. I was hoping to get a nice professional looking way for using less beads since toho and such beads are extremely expensive but I guess I lost the battle.

This instructor goes entirely too fast. I’m a beginner at flat braiding and even with stopping and starting video I still can not keep up. Please slow down your teaching for us beginners.
