Lovely job on this tutorial :) A little tip I have used when making these pendants. If the edges of the paper are a bit jagged after you have cut around the dried glue step..you can smooth them used one of those grey or blue foam blocks for sanding acrylic nails. They usually have a few different grits of sandpaper on them and are squishy so they make nice rounded edges. You can find them at beauty supply stores. Also, these make a fun set of fridge magnets if you glue on a button magnet.

Aleshia your tutorials are so thoughtful and well put together. I like how you anticipate potential trouble during the project, tell where you buy the products and their cost, list alternatives, show the project made using alternatives, and the other subtleties that make your tutorials the best on KZbin. When I watch one of your videos, I feel completely confident I can complete the project, I don't need to do extra research or watch someone else's video. Thanks for all the stellar videos!

You can use black acrylic paint on the back of your beads. It will help keep the image from the back from showing through. It also gives your image(s) more depth and an overall clean look :) Hope you try it!

Your wire bail idea is simply brilliant! Thanks so much for sharing it, and you did a great job demonstrating and explaining how to make it. One thing I found helpful if an image wanted to show through from the other side was to glue a piece of BLACK paper to the back -- no more show-through. The black paper often seemed to intensify to colors of the image on the front, plus it made the back of the piece look more "finished." You don't need a heavy-duty glue, just use Elmer's white glue for the black paper. Once that dries, you can attach the bail with E-6000, then the Diamond Glaze or clear fingernail polish. I'd love to see the necklace you made with the paper beads and glass pendant. Consider adding a link, please.

Sealing the paper with a Mod Podge formula first can make any paper usable & glossy, matte, or my favorite, glittery. This can really make the image stand out & you might not need to use the Diamond Glaze, which as you said, can be hard to find. Neat idea!

Thank-you very much, I am currently doing Kumihimo Braiding and with use of beads to do this I have not been able to find any bails locally that I could use. The ones on line are so expensive. So by watching this you have saved my life. Or I think so now I have to make some. I will send you a picture or two once they are done. Thanks again from Vancouver Canada
@thepenpusher06749 жыл бұрын
finishing the back, you can use polymer clay, sandwiching the bail between the two and getting rid of the printing on the back. Or, moisten the back and using your finger, remove the excess paper, leaving the image on the glass; then add the pretty bail you've made. (an old trick from Mod Podge and placing an image onto other materials).

I have made all kind of things with these marbles and let me give you a tip. I glue the image with white glue which dries clear and apply it also to the back. Once it is dry, I use a nail polish color that matches the color of the image or just use black nail polish to seal it. I have attahed self adhesive magnets to put them on my refrigerator. This process is much faster and less expensive than using the E-6000. I got the idea from a decoupage video and has worked very good for me. I hope you try my method. Great job on the bails. Kind regards.

I 've made these for year yours are very nice but save time cutting out your paper with a circle paper cutter. There's one the same diameter as the large glass stone. Another tip! On the back add a nice piece of material or I prefer a black "pleather" type of material. This gives it a more professional finished piece.
@jayandsophiapope58407 жыл бұрын

KJ Starr but some of the glass globs are not perfect circles.

KJ Starr, would the black material be attached to the paper with E6000 and then the bail or bale would be attached to the black material with E6000?
@linneabeckman65437 жыл бұрын
Just paint the back with nail polish, color of choice, let dry. apply second coat, let dry, install bail.
@jeffo11107 жыл бұрын
you can "sandwich" the bail between the pendant and any backing material you choose. Black velour paper would work well, or do as Linnea suggests below! Pretty much anything goes - you can choose what you want on the back.
