There really is a place called Dead Man's Curve on Barstow Road between Barstow, California and Fort Irwin, California, in the middle of the Mojave (pronounced MoJAVE, like in "javelin" in "American G I.") As a (Expletive Deleted) PFC, I ran my own rapid transit service back in 1965. This road is 39 miles long. A friend had to be back in 20 minutes or get an article 15. Okay, lmao, let me explain something lol. I worked for Amazon and used to box up packages. Sir, I ASSURE you, we are told what box to use. A little monitor gives us the type of box to use when the item is scanned. I don't have a number for the many times I rolled my eyes while having to put a very small item in a very big, unnecessary box. It's hilarious seeing people get them though lol

And as so often we don't really know what's going on. In large logistics companies, box sizes can be selected in a way not to rumble in the transporting van. They are not unneccessary big, they are fitting to the needs of the delivery car tour. Perhaps that's the case here. Or - due to failing "just in time delivery" of the cardboard company - Amazon ran temporarily out of boxes of the right size. It is WAY more expensive (in terms of lesser throughput) to halt the delivery chain than to choose a box too big.
