@@user-vm5ud4xw6n effectively a Biomedical Scientists role is to diagnose and monitor (but not to treat). So when a doctor, nurse or whoever takes your blood sample, spinal fluid sample, urine sample, faecal sample, body fluid sample etc… they have to send it off for analysis. That sample gets sent to me, I put it in a machine and diagnose you based on that.

@@user-vm5ud4xw6nEffectively a Biomedical Scientist’s job is to diagnose and monitor (but not to treat, that’s the clinician’s job). So whenever you have a sample taken from you, such as blood, spinal fluid, body fluid etc… it has to be looked at as looking at a tube of whatever they took (including the not very nice samples that come out of your waste systems). That sample gets sent off to a hospital lab. My job is to put that sample through a machine and to diagnose you based in the results, or to provide the clinician the results and they diagnose you based on that. Hoping this message gets through as my last one didn’t as I suspect it was because I used the word fae.ce.s…
@Andrew_BIake
@Andrew_BIake 9 ай бұрын
@@user-vm5ud4xw6n ok, third times the charm (hopefully it shows my response this time). When a doctor or nurse removes a sample from yourself (whatever it is, such as blood), that sample needs analysing. My job is to put that sample through a machine and look at the findings such as your sodium, potassium, ALP, ALT etc… (the final two is how you can tell if a patient is lying to you about not drinking as patients like to lie to make themselves look better), so it shows if you have drunk your liver to it’s current state effectively or if it is something else such as hepatocellular carcinoma). A Biomedical Scientist’s role in the hospital labs is to diagnose and monitor a patient’s condition (but not to treat) as that’s the clinicians job. I suspect my previous statements didn’t get through as they need looking at as it mentions the not very nice samples and where they come from… hopefully this one comes through!

I have a great story, so I lived in Germany for about 3 years and when I was there I was in a scout troop. and in that scout troop we had a myth about a creature called the bunny man. the reason this started was because of a very very creepy experience: so we occasionally camped at a place called hill 549. and at that place was a couple old buildings from world war 2. and in one of them was something really unsettling: there was some chairs put in a circle all facing inward towards the middle, in the middle there was another chair but there was also a photo in that chair. the photo was a black and white photo of a boy, who looked like they were crying, and behind that boy there was a man, dressed up in a bunny costume... anyways I love your videos be amazed you are truly amazing.

For folks in the comments saying they have OCD, it's not a condition where you seek perfection. It's in the name. It's obsessive compulsive behaviour linked to anxieties and ritualistic behaviour that bring comfort. E.g. repeatedly cleaning your hands, checking locks, tapping surfaces etc. And if you don't do them it's so horrible. I wish it was just being a clean freak 😂

Facing shelves is lying to the customer. I buy in bulk and nothing upsets me more than seeing what looks like a full shelf only to be 4 cans stacked on top of each other covering the hole. If the store is running low on something, leaving the gaps make my shopping experience easier by letting me know that they don't have 20 cans of soup and move on.
