No one ever talks about Sgt Alvin York anymore. He was seemingly bulletproof. For someone who received a huge amount of fanfare when he returned home he sure got forgotten easily.

Totally underrated these days. Sgt. York was foremost a pacifist and only went to war because he had to. While he was picking off German soldiers (ultimately killing 25), he kept on asking them to surrender so he wouldn't have to kill them, and took over 100 prisoner, singlehandedly. He wasn't motivated by revenge or even wanting to save his own life, but by wanting to protect his fellow soldiers. Even the Right Whale, with the largest testicles in the animal kingdom, couldn't hold a candle to him.

If you plan to do a Part 2, another great warrior to add would be Yi Sun-shin (or Admiral Yi). He was a Korean born around April 28, 1545. He fought against the Japanese when they tried to invade China through Korea after Korea didn't let Japanese soldiers go through them when they wanted to conquer China. He fought against unbelievable odds as an Admiral and never lost a single ship. He was such a formidable force and sunk so many Japanese ships, that he saved Korea and put the Japanese on the defensive because of stretched supply lines. He would later be let go because he refused an order to go into an obvious Japanese trap, but was later given the role back after his replacement fell into a similar trap and lost nearly all of their ships. I can't put every detail in here or it would be a mile long, but Extra Credits made great videos about this.

Simo Häyhä had 505 confirmed kills on rifle only. He also had 300 confirmed kills with submachinegun, making his total killcount up to 800. And those are 100% confirmed kills. Some sources suggests his total (unconfirmed) killcount may be even up to 1200 as he was mostly acting solo.. And all this in just three months.

It is important to notice that Alexander the Great's lands were going through turmoil. After losing the eastern lands and giving his daughter to Chaudagupta to ensure peace Seleucus was able to obtain 500 war elephants that would serve him well during the battle of Ipsus by scaring the cavalry that was supposed to flank him and then leading his own cavalry behind the phalanx causing a mass defection of the enemy mercenaries. So in the end they both got what they wanted.

Galvarino, a Mapuche warrior, had his hands chopped off in part of Spanish leader, Governor Garcia Hurtado de Mendoza who ordered his troops to do so. Instead of giving up Galvarino attached knives to his stubs and used them in a major battle known as The Battle of Millarupe. He and his fellow Mapuche tribe were captured but he never gave up. Nobody knows his true reason of death though.

If you decide to make a part two to this video, I would like to suggest Ben L. Saloman, an American dentist who was assigned to the front lines of WWII to replace a wounded surgeon. When some Japanese soldiers killed a man he had just saved, he took up a machine gun and killed nearly 100 enemy soldiers. He is one of only three dentists to ever receive the Medal of Honor.

It wasn't directly on the front lines. Saloman (not sure on the spelling) was defending a forward field hospital/command camp after basically all the brass and combat trained units got killed in the initial attack. He held out for a long time to make sure his patients could be evacuated. I only heard the story once, and a long time ago; only trying to fill a few holes in what you said. Edit: Something about the rules of warfare (which I cannot claim to know) made that camp less likely to be attacked, thus it only had a skeleton crew protecting it, thus why our dentist had to show his badassery.

If I'm not mistaken, he actually want to die in war but he cried when he can't die at war (edit) He fight over 115 battles. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) even called Khalid as Sword of Allah(God). He died at old age. He wasn't always a Muslim. At first, he was uhhhh the qurasyh tribe at Mecca.After the Hudaibbiyah peace treaty, he converted into Islam. Chanakya went to meet Dhana Nanda in his court to urge the king to make alliances with other smaller Indian kingdoms to stop Alexander. But Nanda king insulted him and threw him out of the court. Nanda king was a tyrant, and he had to be dethroned. That's when Chanakya vowed to destroy Nanda and end his tyranny. Chanakya was a genius war strategist, one of the most intellectual persons in all of Aryavarta. He found a gem of a person in Chandragupta, and he along with Chandragupta went on to create the first united(Akhanda) empire in India

Leonidas was sided with Athenians at the hot gates, but they deserted by and large leaving the Spartans to themselves on the last day of the battle, when they found out they had been betrayed. Such an inspirational tale and incidentally leonidas' general Thamistocles (possibly misspelled) ran from Marathon to warn the Spartan leaders of the impending invasion which was 26 miles and is the root of the term Marathon that we run today! Love the story of Leonidas and his personal guard.

No. Leonidas himself dismissed the rest of the Greek army. 700 Thespians refused to leave, and some accounts report that Leonidas kept 900 helots (Spartan slaves), and that some Thebans also remained. All were killed, except the Thebans, who reportedly surrendered. At a minimum, the last stand was made by 1,000 men, and possibly by 2,300. Leonidas both expected and intended to die at Thermopylae, due to a divination by an oracle. No one deserted. The story of the origin of the Marathon is about Philippides, an Athenian, who ran from the site of the battle of Marathon, where the Athenians had defeated a Persian land army, to Athens, to warn the largely defenseless city (all fighting men being at Marathon) of an impending attack by the Persian fleet. He died from exhaustion shortly after arriving, and before he had warned the city. It all worked out, in the end, though. Personally, I've taken the moral of the story to be "never run a marathon", and, so far, so good.

I say this as a person who knows the history of Persia. For the first time, I heard the story/history of Leonardis close to the truth, Thank you "BE AMAZED" for that. At the end of that conflict, They lost to the Persian army and for a few years, the Greeks had to annually pay compensation to the Persian empire. At that time, most historians were Greeks and wrote history to keep the dignity of Greece intact. Basically, they twisted the historical facts a little.

Many of these were undoubtedly great warriors, even if we subtract a bit to account for sources with overactive imaginations. However, others were mainly great generals; even leading from the front, a general's reputation is made by winning the battle, not by fighting in it. We need to account for much more than just overactive imaginations, when dealing with their stories. Also, there are several glaring omissions. The biggest, in my opinion, is Egill Skallagrimson. The man was an ongoing mass murder in human form, killing fellow Vikings, Christian soldiers, random neighbors, other berserkers, commoners, and royalty; in brawls, duels, skirmishes, battles, self defense, and "self defense". He killed an older kid with an axe, when he was seven; the kid made the mistake of cheating in a game. He killed the slave that helped him bury his gold, when he was 80, before dying peacefully in his bed (which he do doubt found annoying; it's not like he hadn't made an effort to get himself killed properly). An English king once paid him two chests of silver, for fighting in a single battle. He was also extraordinarily ugly, and a great poet. So great, in fact, that he got out of his own execution for killing the son of king Eirik Bloodaxe, by composing and reciting a poem so stunning that the king was bound by custom to reward him (the Norse took their poetry very seriously), and, for a condemned man, the only reward of any significance is a pardon. His moral standards may have left something to be desired, and he should definitely not be emulated. However, even accounting for massive exaggerations in the saga, he must still have been one of the most lethal warriors, ever. He did with a sword what modern soldiers rarely (if ever) accomplish with a minigun. So, you know, stuff him in there, next time. You definitely don't want his ghost haunting you. It might, if we are to believe in such things. I doubt they dared let him into Hell; the Devil doesn't need that kind of competition. That would leave his disembodied soul to roam the World.

Obviously needs a part 2. Now add two Iban legends by the name of Awang Anak Raweng and Kanang Anak Langkau. Also, if you think Gurkhas aren't afraid of death, the Iban Trackers deserved the same respect and recognition. During the Malayan Emergency from 1948 till 1960, Awang Anak Raweng was an Iban Tracker, mind I tell you who were just civilians that volunteered the British Army at the time, who protected his severely injured comrade, Private G. Huges, against 50 communist even though he got shot on the tigh and right arm. After a 40 minute standoff, the communist withdrew after Awang pulled out a grenade and threatened to kill everyone with it using just his teeth to pull out the pin. He was awarded a George Cross for his bravery. Next is the legendary Kanang Anak Langkau during the Communist Insurgency in Malaysia from 1968 till 1989. He was an Iban Tracker in the Royal Ranger Regiment, now a real military after independance, who was outnumbered and in a fierce firefight after tracking the enemy for eleven days. While in battle, he shouted the infamous Iban battlecry "Agi Idup, Agi Ngelaban" which means "I Will Fight While I Live" which is now the moto of the Royal Ranger Regiment. He got shot on the body 3 times whilst trying to save his comrade and got into a coma for 2 months.

Actually, Gurkha Chad used a bolt-action rifle than a submachine-gun or a machine-gun. Bolt-action rifles must used with two hands, one hand holds the rifle steady while the other one reloads, shoots and operate the bolt mechanism. So this was an amazing feat back in the day.

Gwomnotta Class ships -GNHMS/SSA Gwomnotta Battleship (is a mix of both the KMS Bismarck and the IJN Yamato and is still used today) SSAN Guamerfi airborne Battleship (is a Battleship basically taken to the skies) Part 2 coming up soon.....

I used to work where the Ghurkas are (were? It was 30 odd years ago). We'd see them in town, and because of the nature of my job, I occasionally went onto their garrison. They have the most awesome reputation throughout the UK for their bravery & sense of honour but when you meet them in peace, as it were, you couldn't wish to meet anyone more polite, smiley and generally adorable! I'm *not* saying this in any way negatively. I would *not* want to be someone in battle against them, because I'd probably leave the battlefield in a body bag, if I could be found. But they're just the complete opposite of that well-earned reputation in "real life". I always loved getting the chance to go to our job there, but as the supervisor, I didn't often get the chance to get out of the office (fortunately, my office was about a mile or so from the camp, so if I got my timing right I could "ride shotgun" with my worker, so to speak ☺️). Any non-allied soldier should take notice; if you see them coming, run! Their reputation is not exaggerated!

Dude, this was a fricken awesome video! Out of this list, I have to say my favourite warrior is The White Death, with Lachhiman Gurang and Julie D'Aubigny rounding out my top 3. However, my personal favourite warrior from history was only mentioned a couple of times but wasn't on the list, so I would love to see a part 2 to see if he's on it, along with other legendary warriors! (Sadly my number 1 "Greatest Warrior" won't be featured in any of these videos because he's a fictional Aussie character by the name of Jack West Jr. 😉)
