The AI issue is especially egregious for the police AI. It used to be perpetually seeking any way to immobilize you, no matter the cost, pulling no punches. Now, it is seemingly dumber than the first ever phone.

I’ve had an ai chase me and I jumped off this small hill it slide down it then it proceeded to try to climb it when I was right behind they really need to fix the ai it’s to dumb

The Ai traffic already has multiple personalities. Some can road rage, follow you for your insurance, run away from an accident/hit and run, although I agree they should be drastically expanded upon with more realistic behaviours. Also yes, finally someone mentioned more mechanical bits to break in the car, more damage types, engine failures etc. The reason why I love the 0.5.3 and 0.23 updates so much.

Another personality is the criminal vehicle, (only works when having a police car with sirens up). Most vehicles yield or move out of the way, but there’s always this one pesky car that’s willing to run away.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but scratches and something similar to it wont be happening anytime soon. Beam is constantly updating its game and its engine, and as mentioned in the video it leaves a room to be improved. Theres TONS of cars thatt havent been put into the game, so if they added scratches mechanic to the game, theres a great chance it would get borked and some stuff had to be redone which adds more delay for updates.

I believe scratches are very difficult to do as beam devs want it as realistic as possible and can't just add a scratch texture at every collision point

@@ZipZapTesla The point is, theres bigger issues and other much more important stuff to tackle first. The biggest example is the transition of beamng using Vulcan, its still buggy as is but much more stable. Scratches or dynamic dirt will definitely clashes and might break the game or the vehicle textures in general. Its just not worth it in this state of the game

@DenisClan I'm telling you now, 16 isn't enough. I had 2 8gb ram sticks, and it always gave me ram issues. You need 32 minimum, or atleast more than 16

@ I had 16 gb ram until my gaming laptop broke (rip) and I had issues only with higher graphics. On low graphics I ran most maps with 4 traffic alright.

Beamng really really REALLY lacks rain. I have wished for rain effects on windows, terrain and just good particles to be in beamng since buying it in Jan 1 2020

Have you ever tried the 'Flood' mod? It has the option to enable rain. I've found this works really well with the 'Animated Wipers' mod

I would like to see enviromental temperature effects on the vehicles and the ability to change the enviroment temperature. Also more fuels like kerosene, e85, diesel and gas from past times, and even CNG, propane, and HVO.

I’d say a perfect racing game would be BeamNG crashing physics, Assetto Corsa driving physics, Forza Horizon/Motorsport car selections, Car Mechanic Sim little bit realistic details, TDU 2 style massive map and multiple map choices, and just some crazy looking graphics… oh yea, and a size of like a bajillion megabytes lol

On the repo, someone ported a series of maps from some other game with CarKiller's help. Certain connection routes will teleport you between points on different maps. Level loading screens may ruin the purists' immersion, but it's one workaround for the constraints in BeamNG's game engine, in case something fundamental in the engine's architecture prevents streaming parts of larger maps in and out of memory as a player travels. Great point about chance for minor mechanical/electronic degradation or breakdowns. I've been hoping that this game mechanic will make its way into the game for career mode. Right now, buying a car wiith 300k miles on it is just cheaper than a new low mileage car. I don't know if any such wear and tear mechanics are in game, but I haven't seen any. I'd just like the physics simulation to be weightier. Not sure if it's possible to fully prevent 3D objects from glitching into each other, crash welding, jittering around, etc in collisions. Doesn't have to be solved bottom up with painfully detailed soft body physics (which admittedly is BeamNG's shtick). At a certain level of detail, I'd just be happy with a shortcut method like increasing dampening on objects so that a 2-ton industrial roll of sheet steel will just go thunk when it falls (then maybe roll away slowly before that's also dampened).

I'm waiting for a feature that no one talks about, but it's obvious and very cool. Make the movement between maps like in Snowrunner. That is: you drive up to the end of the track at a marker, press a button and choose where to go. Imagine a career in which you can go from the West Coast to Utah or any map at all. For example, buy a car here, make it, and sell it there for more money... Car dealerships have been added to all maps, but the career is only on the West Coast for now hmm...

a sim game for dirtbikes has a very good way of dealing with dirty vehicles its simply stages putting a overlay on the bike 1. being lightly dusty 2. some stains appear over time .3 getting muddy 4. muddy 5. coated it doesnt have to be dynamic and it really blends together when your bike slowky gets dirty without you really noticing the heavy diffrence between the 5 stages

The map size is mainly due to Torque3D not allowing maps to load in chunks (how most games do it so the whole thing doesn't have to be loaded at once)

a big issue with the AI traffic is that vehicles spawn stationary and need to accelerate to reach the speed limit. It's especially when playing with heavy traffic as it forces the other cars to slow down. It would be more realistic if vehicles spawned already moving at either the speed limit or a calculated speed for their position (or maybe im just imagining this).

A very niche thing I would love is being able to hear the gears being selected and the ignition being switched on and off from outside the car. Kind of like in GTA V or TDU 2. Cause when you use orbit camera you only hear the engine when I feel like you should be able to hear other things, too, even if it might be a bit unrealistic. Idk someone make a mod of that lol

another issue with large maps is that beamng requires precise physics, where larger maps will, with distance, decrease the floating point accuracy, a lot of older games worked around this by basically having world sections that move to the centre of the coordinate system, this means that one map is really a partition of 8 smaller subsections that have their own local coordinates. implementing something like this in beamng might be the way to increase future map scale

Car dont really overheat when driving on track. My 2002 civic is still stock for the cooling and can go 20 min session full throttle no problem

pretty sure the devs have been working with that dude who made that realistic engine sim program, basically makes super realistic sounding engines. I heard somewhere they want to implement it into the game. I could be wrong

i would like to adres a missconception about the maps becoming unperformant when too large. there are currently countless games which have an enormous game world, the technique used to improve fps is by loading and unloading parts of the map from and to memory, that way you can have a map as enormous as world of warcraft or guild wars 2 without impacting performance as your Ram stores game data like colliders, mesh, shaders, lights etc etc. you absolutely can have a gargantuan map without tanking performance as long as its correctly solved by the developers and the engine. i am not to well versed in that matter but perhaps someone else may know if the engine the developers are using suports streaming map parts in and out like many other games do already

They should be adding different blinker sounds and chimes depending on the year the car was made, plus interior damage like a cracked infotainment screen, broken speedometer, and a lot more, plus visible seat belts for the AgentY dummy add-on.

I want to say for the large map one, I am working on a map that is 1000 x 1000 km. it is decently detailed. my only issue is the grass. they need to add a grass brush to the forest editor so I can make it more detailed

Personally I want to see a really big Burma map. The Top Gear trio really made me like the desert - jungle maps and cliffs and cars without doors. Jungle rock island is nice, but it's just a small map and it doesn't have radical terrain.

Beamng with Wreckfest or gran turismo like career and then car mechanic simulator for in depth workings would be my ideal game, upgrades, repairs all done in a simulation atmosphere by myself, then back out to the track to advance the career

One thing I hate is the paint. When you crash you should have paint rubbing off, or if you are driving on the highway and you are rubbing the guard rail going 100 km/h you should have paint rubbing off. Also, small crashes on the bumper should make the paint come off a little!

So they are actually planning to add pedestrians i believe. There was an accidental leak as of recent that showed civilian AI navigational boxes moving between nodes placed on different maps, so we may see this through next update or over the course of a few updates! I do also agree that the beamng car sounds are very boring and sound lifeless. They're missing the throatiness! The sounds overall in BeamNG are very lacking, id love to see them improve as they add a lot more to immersion.

Crazy idea for 0.35 just a paint over haul like you could change each body panel and the could get scratches and mud and water washes it off and mabey just start with one car like they did with mirrors

Ai stuff would be so fun, i always spawn traffic with police so i could be driving and some crazy grand marshall passes me 50 over the speed limit with three police cars chasing it

the fact that NONE of the particle effects interact with ANYTHING has always bothered me. ie, smoke phasing through the bonnet etc
