Been owning my 2023 330i m package for about 2 years and the one thing I think they really should add to the "content" section is tire pressure. We can already see it on the mobile app and in the "vehicle status" section on the right side screen, why not add it to the layout like other car companies or even on the M cars?

I do know the main M cars have a tire psi / tire temp content screen. They introduced it a few years back. But yes would be nice to have it for all the cars and not just limited to the M cars.

I have the 8.0 version and something I only discovered after 6 months was in the wide view in instrument cluster it shows a P on right side or D or R but switch gear to sport and you get S and whatever gear number in use..I’m sure many already new this but it’s cool to actually see what gear the gearbox is using..

Not exactly customizing anything other than standard layouts. I really enjoy the 4-point font for the odometer, temperature, etc.

Very informative many thanks. Ref at (5mins 02secs) this screen change option can only be altered in "PERSONAL" mode, and then your choice remains for all other modes on my 2024 X1 / idrive 9 (uk). The mileage trip reset was a revelation.

Might be for the driver assistance features, if you have self drive. There are sensors on the screen that make sure you are looking straight ahead.

How do you get Augmented view on the instrument panel? BMW stated that in the 2025 x3, I could get software to upgrade to Parking pro. How?

To upgrade you may have to purchase from the connected drive store, it will be app located in the settings menu of the car. Changing the views on the instrumental cluster is done through the hamburger shape button on the steering wheel, you can choose diff options like shown in the video.

Does my 2025 X2 M35i have a side view camera that comes on to show the blind spots when the turn signal is on? This is a great safety feature on a Tesla. If no side view cameras, does the radar system show this view? If not, is there a retrofit able side view camera system that integrates into my cars I-Drive 8.5 system and screens?

A side view no, but a small yellow light yes. Radar system only shows when going at lower speeds in parking situations. You cannot retrofit it.

@@BeamerView That too bad. I think there would be a great market for side view cameras and they would be a great safety feature. I would think they would be reasonably easy to retrofit/integrate like adding a back up camera. Same is true for night vision system so that you can see deer at night. My friend's high end Porsche has a system and it is great.

Can you turn the screen off while driving? Can you listen to music on a USB and blackout the screen? If so, please demonstrate in a new video. I think the screen is a distraction while driving. I have a car with the dashboard displaying a song while I'm driving. However I can blackout the dashboard while listening to music, when I'm driving. Hopefully, you can show me this feature in a video because this will determine if I buy the BMW M440i. Thanks in advance.

Look in display settings, you can setup the turn off function as a shortcut.

I visited a local BMW dealership. An employee demonstrated how to turn the screen off/ black it out. The individual also demonstrated how play the radio or USB with music while the screen is off.

I would try to make sure your BMW ID it setup ready to go. Most of the time that is the issue. That or go to a location where you have good reception, and lastly try a idrive reboot to see if that works.

This was really helpful, thanks! I've been using the compass/directional view, but now that I know I can add that to the HUD, I'm probably going to start using the surround view. Where I live, the drivers are terrible, so any help I can get on seeing what's around me is more than welcome! By the way, this might be a stupid question, but does BMW update the OS version, or is that tied to the car model and the hardware? I've got what I believe is iDrive 8, but the new version looks pretty slick...

Glad the video helped ya! Yup i'm in the same boat and have mine doing the same thing when I arrive home. OS Versions can get a little tricky, typically the lower end bmws either come with idrive 8 or 9. Anything mid tier and up would most likely come with idrive 8.5 which is the one you see here in this video. I'm still not crying though, it's still pretty great, and it seems like they've done something to improve the Bluetooth connectivity, because it's been working without any problem for months now (knock on wood)!

Great content. QQ, how do I get the music to turn off when I shut off the car and exit. The music/radio keeps playing until I arm/lock the vehicle.

There is a setting within the vehicle. If you go to the DOOR settings, and then go into LOCK / UNLOCK. There should be an option there where once you open the door, the vehicle will turn off. Try that one. Or, you can hold the vol button for 3 secs and that will do the same.

How do I navigate sirius channels on the steering wheel? Using the touch screen is too difficult while I'm driving. Also, my android audio occasionally turns on when I'm trying to listen to the radio.

Have sirius selected as the audio source, then use the scroll button on the steering wheel and push in on the one you want. Thats a glitch that should be resolved later with a software update.

Tyre pressure monitoring depends on the monitoring system fitted to the vehicle, it’s not a function of iDrive 8.5 Took delivery of my M340i Xdrive last week ! 🙂

Unfortunately, unless you have a full M vehicle, BMWs won't allow you to show the tire pressure readings on the main screens. The easiest way around this would be to have the tire pressure screen setup to be a shortcut then you can quickly access it.

Depends on which software you have, this was done with software 8.5, you may have 8.

Hi very interesting and presented, I have a 2024 220i and have been looking for the trip meter without any joy, I shall take a new look tomorrow but I don’t think I have a microphone app but I do have a gear wheel app but have never seen those three options settings pop up, I believe I have iso 9 on my car does my model allow the trip meter. ? I haven't gotten a chance to play with the 220i yet, the US market doesn't sell them so I wouldn't be able to say what system is has exactly. If you have a head's up display it could be that those settings are popping up on the HUD.

Correct for that model year you can only use the BC button to cycle through the different content. However on your iDrive screen if you have idrive 7 you should be able to change up the widgets by pressing and holding on them.
