How lovely of you to share this Karen, my parents went some years ago and loved it. My Dad was born in Sunderland so many memories for him. So nice to see you and Warren enjoying a lovely day out. That’s some decorative toilet in the bathroom. My doll had to go to hospital as her head was broken. I hope you return sometime I would love to watch more of this wonderful museum. Thanks to you both x😊

Thank you for the tour, I’ve not been to Beamish since 1980s there’s certainly a lot more to see and do. when I visited the 1st building you entered was the farm kitchen and farm buildings, the pit village, the mine and the old shops and I seem to remember the dentist and the row of terraced houses also the railway (a friend of mine worked on the restoration of that). Loved the biscuits cabinets when I was young and went to the co-op for the groceries, loose butter, bacon, ham, cheese, sugar in blue bags, saving up the dividend for a treat at Christmas. We had the stone hot water bottles, repurposed ginger beer bottles from either Fentimans or Wood and Watson pop factories. I remember a dolls hospital in Sunderland, one of my china dolls was repaired there. Happy memories of my childhood in the 1950/60s 🫶

That was wonderful Karen. Have meant to visit but just never got there. So much I remember. I'm only 69 but there was so much. As you say the record player. I was married in 1975 and I had a drop down kitchen unit thing. Painted orange, I loved it.😂 Lovely to see you and Warren out and about. Take care X❤

Hi Karen, what a great day out & I really enjoyed your filming showing some of the ‘feel’ of the place. It’s vast isn’t it? I have been once before about 20 years ago & like you only managed to see a section of it….would love to go back. Lovely to see you & Warren out on that beautiful but cold sunny day….great for the spirits! Take care, keep warm & we’ll see you soon 😊🌻

Hi Karen, what a great day out you had at Beamish. I haven't visited for years and there are obviously many new attractions. The dentist's house you went into came from Ravensworth Terrace. Lovely to see you & Warren having a day out.

Thanks for taking us Karen, so interesting. I live in the East Midlands and think the nearest place like that for me would be the Black Country museum. Really enjoyable video, full of nostalgia ❤

Thanks Karen, great tour round Beamish. I’ve been meaning to go for a visit for years but never seem to make it. Definitely going next time I’m up North, it looked like a lovely day too, weatherwise I mean. I guess the best time to go would be in the colder weather, not as crowded as Summer time. I’m going to take a look at your other videos on York etc. so, thanks again and take care, bye for now, Sandra.❤

Hi Karen, I really enjoyed this video. I went to Beamish about 20 years ago and a lot has changed since then. I was born in 59 and I remember going shopping with my mum must have been mid 60’s and Sainsbury’s had two three counters which were shaped a bit like a horseshoe and sawdust on the floor and a lovely cheese cutter was amazing. Oh and one of my dolls went to a dolls hospital Denise

Went to Beamish in about 1988, we (my husband, mum and our young son) had been visiting relatives in Ashington with my mum. We took my Aunt Thelma and Roy and I had our photos taken dressed in Victorian clothes, it was in sepia and I think it is one of the nicest photos of us we have ever had taken. Brought back lovely memories of that trip. My mum and aunt are no longer with us.♥️

I love Beamish Karen. Going into the house on the farm was like stepping back into my Mams house when I was a bairn. I could have sat there listening to the old music all day. Wonderful memories. Anyone who hasn’t been should really try to go It’s a fantastic day out ❤👍

Hi Karen, what a fascinating place Beamish is wish we had one near us. Apothecary is all the rage now a lot of the things are being invented in a modern way like that cooker a bit like a modern aga with the two ovens side by side my grandson wants one similar to that when he moves because he loves cooking and having friends round for meals, his fiancé loves for him to do the cooking😀😀

Oo lovely thank you.. Always wanted to go there with our kids but it was so far away from us. It would be a 3 or 4 day stopover to see it all before we came home! They have done something similar in Birmingham - Black Country Museum. Yes I remember the Downton Abbey locations. Yes I remember a lot of all those old products and interiors. Makes me feel even older when I looked at those😂 Some i don't know as I came from the "privileged south" as my hubby calls it. No outside washouse/bath/loo etc for me even though im nearly 74!!!

Hi Karen - I think there's a few areas that would be difficult for a wheelchair but still lots that you could access. They have a lot of info on their site about accessibility so it would be worth having a look there xx
