One of the most replayable games out there, but there are a few things that I think the game can add that are not too time consuming or game changing, but add detail. - Suspension parts that break off and scatter during harder crashes. Springs and shocks and sway bars should break off. The readiator and maybe some other things other the hood as well. - Scratches and dynamic dirt on cars - Oil, water, brake fluid and other things that can actually leak out of cars from something like a damaged oil cooler or just after a hard crash. - Glowing brakes - Tire wear, and ability to repair sections of the car individually, like put on a new hood or fenders - Im sure some of these things can be CPU intensive if done well, so options to turn them off from the rest of the physics is probably very good or necessary as well

@@hingewichsterfick its hard to point these "improvements". As a great fan of simulation, physics, and mechanics, i really enjoy every single bit of realism. And Beam is truly a gem. The fact that the engine starves from oil when upside down, engine overheats, overrev, brakes fade, i mean, its easy to forget these things... But at the same time, having all this, maybe its time for some "micro improvements" like the brake visuals, or maybe, a whole class of "temperature related improvements". Every thing that glows, make them glow! Turbos, exhaust manifolds, brake disks. I hopefully will live long enough to see those!

The thing I love about Beam is it's not just a game about crashing, it's about using the softbody physics to make the cars behave in a realistic manner. The tires, suspension, engine, steering, etc. all impart and receive kinetic energy that the physics react to. Combining this game with Automation and it's ability to export, both games could be, no, *are* a great teaching tool of how cars work.

@AdriansNetlis
@AdriansNetlis 5 жыл бұрын
Well, to make each, every single polygon have good enough collision detection to prevent this it'd require: - some advanced collision detection system (can be very demanding on CPU if error-less is required) - great integration system, to prevent objects from clipping due to large forces (would require many iterations and/or high framerate) Combine those things together and you see most CPUs just couldn't handle it today. The error-less collision detection would be a huge limiting factor for framerate, but that's exactly one of things that is required for physics integration with low-enough delta times. At the moment the game has optimized their collision to run about as good as possible on modern CPUs. I don't think even the R9 3950X could handle the required modifications. So, sadly, this is one of things that may not get completely fixed in any near time. However, small improvements could happen.

I dont know how possible this is, but you guys should try making it so when there is a lot of sudden pressure on one specific part of the car, the polygons start multiplying, thus, creating a more detailed crash, without affecting the other parts of the vehicle. This is great, but there is still a big issue of part clipping and a lesser issue of part vibration (probably caused by incorrect dampening physic) and the mix of the two : part vibration caused by clipping. The part clipping is often due to the fact that the two part position get in between physic frames more travel distance than their contact location. A solution, though it is a little resources intensive, is to check for simple and really basic crossing trajectory of objects depending on their velocity and distance (a little like bullets collision algorithms but lighter as it only check for part close enough from each others), when two match, checking if their trajectory does really intersect, and then use a subtask to apply the collision for all the parts which do interfere before the main new physic frame. This basically will prevent parts clipping and objects at extreme speed to pass through each others, optimizations can be made, such as parallels parts or parts of a group (in case of a car made of many parts) would only require those additional checks if the car have deformation over a certain minimum margin.

Even as of now, this game is absolutely amazing! I love it! Thanks for so many good days beamng drive

As far as I know on Beamng if you have a decent/good and fairly modern processor (like an Intel i5 or i7 or AMD ryzen 5 or ryzen 7) you can run as many cars as CPU cores (or threads) you have with pretty good performance. The issues start when you go over that number, because after that point each car causes a much bigger dip in Fps than the previous ones. If you have a very fast processor tho, like 4.5Ghz and up, this dip gets small enough that you can run a couple more vehicles. In short: I can run 8 cars on my 4.9GHz i5 8600k 6core processor with decent performance. I couldn't run more than 4 cars on my old AMD 4.6ghz Fx8320 even if it had 8 cores because it was too old and slow.

Any updates coming out soon? It would be nice to see: - Oil and Fluid Leaks: When the engine is getting damaged or the radiator and the car stay stationary in one spot you could add oil/fluid leaks on the ground. - More particles on collisions: The collisions look kind of clean at this moment, usually during a collision, there is debris flying all over the place, mainly from brittle elements like glass or plastic. That would give a higher feeling of the impact.

Also, the fire and flames effect although nice to see in-game is just superficial, it doesn't actually do any damage. Fire should blacken up the metal and destroy the interior of a car that is ablaze. Could this be programmed into BeamNG.drive? It would add the extra immersion that continues to make this crash sim the greatest ever innovated. 💥💨👍

I'm planning on posting about this on the forum. Currently I'm thinking: 1. Heat affects tire grip 2. Heat affects tire pressure 3. Tread and compound both affect grip on different surfaces (currently, this isn't as detailed as it could be, for example studded tires have way more grip in all circumstances, not just in ice and snow) 4. Realistic ice/hydroplaning (currently, both surfaces just reduce grip by a fixed %) You have any ideas? This list could be a lot longer.

At somepoint can we get a better customisation layout and performance for BeamNG? Changing parts in the garage or out on tracks reloads the entire scenario which means previews for things like bodykits cant be seen and the Menus are very slow and unresponsive when selecting and scrolling through parts, i remember in need for speed u2 where it was fast and fluid, if there is a way you can workaround this and make it easier to customise cars more quicker i would be very thankful, i am very happy for the hardware accelerated UI as it does work but in the car configuration menu it is poor and would need some work, another topic i wanted to bring up was maybe teaming up with Red dot Games with their Car mechanic simulator 2018/19 (as you did with automation) as people can then drive their restored cars in BeamNG as the physics in CMS are bad, i think it would really help the games on both sides and satisfy the wants of registered vehicles in BeamNG that many have wanted in the game. Good luck on your development guys, you're doing a great job! (thumbs up if you agree so the devs can see)

@Liam O'Brien Well both. i does not have enough power to spin the wheels in a corner, but i can do an inertia drift and from there its hard to not oversteer or not have enough speed so i just stop mid-corner.

@Liam O'Brien Is tracktion controll ESP? Cause if so its always on. I have tried slalom drifting on grid map with the Ibishu abnd its defenetly easier.

@Liam O'Brien Okay ill try, but wont it be harder to steer the car when not drifting? Because i want do drift in the corners so i can get faster on Mt.Akina.

I love this game but one thing I wish was in this game was a rotary engine powered car with the brap sounds for the upgraded versions in real life people do something called bridgporting in a rotary which makes it go brap and there are different types j-port Bridgeporting also glowing brake disks

@@slonky821 If you mean the RX7 mod... I had it and it was trash. Stuff breaking and it felt like it wasnt meant for the game. Maybe it was copied but the mod wasn't very enjoyable

Airbags should also be implemented, switched on and off at will, would make vrash physics and tests even more realistic

Sounds like it'd require a lot of work to all internal car collision surfaces.
