Oh yeah, and mine required the shock of the slide hammer to remove 6th, it just didn't move with the balancer puller on its own

Haha J160 is the new T50. And unfortunately I see this trans facing the same fate where we run our of spares and no one knows how to rebuild these

Hey dudes. I need to replace the input shaft bearing on a J160. Do I need to disassemble the whole transmission as in the service manual or just the clutch housing front part of the transmission? Thanks.

TheShedLife has a video of him replacing the input bearing just by taking off the bellhousing. Ive done it once and had an issue. I recommend the service manual way and tearing down the entire transmission

Hi mate, I've just done the 6th gear swap in the j160, however I seem to be stuck in gear. whenever I try to change the gears, It locks up. Is there a special way in which the selector forks line up? It might be stuck in reverse.Thanks

Hey yes it sounds like something is when out of place during install. The check balls for the shift rods are especially difficult to reinstall

So the Nissan syncros work on the j160? My fourth won’t stay in gear and 5th pretty much doesn’t exist. I have been looking for parts forever cause i can’t find another trans.

Looks like a Niteparts adapter plate. How tight is that 6th gear right? I swapped my S15 6th gear for the MX5 0.8something one and it was pressed on so tightly it began to pull the threads when removing it

Definitely not a niteparts as you have to sent your bellhousing to them to shave down some on the face. This adapter also looks very homebrew by how its cut. I've done a handful of Silvia 6th swaps so far and none have really been that tight, although on each one, Ive heated up the gear before pressing.
