The Ward singers sang at my wedding, way back in 1969. What a gift they all were: Viola, Mavelyne, Agnes and Clara. I miss them always.

Thank you soooo much for sharing these songs. We just loved Clara Ward sooo much and her singers. My Grandmother was a member of the Bibleway Church in Washington DC and she would take us to hear the Clara Ward Singers when they came to Bibleway. We were little kids but I will never forget that. Our Grandma would just shout and praise God during the singing. I can still her her praising God. That is why I am saved today because of her prayers I am 68 years old now and I can still remember

Hi Dwayne, Thank you for this post. I remember being introduced to Clara Ward & Singers as a teenager. They would appear, on Sunday nights I believe, on shows like Hootenanny & Hullabaloo. I was as mesmerized then as I am now.

Clara Ward died on January 16, 1973. Gertrude Ward died in November of 1981. Unfortunately, as you can tell by the date, Clara died before her very own mother.

@@brandonwashington341 hi, I know this was a comment from five years ago, but I still wanted to answer this. The answer is yes, ABC-TV recorded portions of the service according to Clara's sister, Willa Ward.

well Sis. Cathy, I'm back! each time I listen to Clara sing this it makes me wish I had 2 extra ears for their Own personal pleasure! I'm telling you the truth that the way she and Mahaila sang would loosen up the tightest wig in the church and make it shout and run down the aisle!

You don't die until your heart stops, which is kinda like cardiac arrest. She passed from complications of a stroke, after being in a coma for a little while.

I know she died waaayyy tooo soon. She was like only 42 yrs old...that's soo young..they say she even battled depression. This date of recording definitely shows that she would be passing not even two months from that time..Clara Ward died on January 16, 1973...so sad to lose such a blessing to the body of Christ..RIP Clara Ward

She was almost 50 (49). Still too young, but not quite a close to 40 as you had her. Just thought you'd appreciate this piece of data :-).

Alan Hudson yes it makes me heart hurts but just believe she is in the presence of Jesus because she made preparation to do so.She enjoyed singing for the grace of God.you know when you go through so much JESUS will say enough come on.my granddaughter transition 3yrs ago only 37.yes I grieves even now but God don't make mistakes. The legends paved the way. They sung about God and gave us the unction to read pray and follow Him. I see ClaraWard Albertina.Inez and all the Saints that stirred our hearts and soul thank God for them. I have some physical problems but I am still here. I see Droid Barrett Campbell in the evening still praising God.Queen Albertina can hardly breathe still praising God.O my God you are so good.Enough preaching.thanks for listening.God be with you til we meet again.

Hey Rowoches, thanks for uploading this amazing performance. Do you know if this is available on any record?

You're more than welcome! This comes from Clara Ward's last concert titled LIVE! It's somewhat rare, but can be found occasionally on eBay. It was recorded on Nashboro/AVI Records. The concert was from 1972 and it was released on 2 different projects: a 2-LP compilation set titled LIVE IN CONCERT VOLUME 2, which was released in the mid-to-late 70's....and then almost 10 years after Clara's death, it was released as a solo album, containing just the Clara Ward Singers songs. You can find it at the following link: www.discogs.com/Clara-Ward-And-Famous-Ward-Singers-The-Live-/master/989184
