We love NZ! Been in your neck of the woods twice. I'm thinking about renting a smaller version to cut eastern white pine. What made you choose this setup vs a band saw? Sharpening the blade is obvious.

Very cool… how about for leveling the pith to the blade, leveling the saw to the center of the log up and down… do you chalk and raise the log do you tilt the rail to match the log? Thanks!

You can level the far end to the pith. Its easier to adjust the log sideways for horizontal alignment with the middle leg.
