Manchester United fans flock to Old Trafford to pay their respects to Sir Bobby Charlton

Fans have left flowers and messages at Old Trafford in tribute to Sir Bobby Charlton, who died at the age of 86 on Saturday. Tributes were left beneath a statue of the iconic United player.

I went and placed my scarf at his feet and paid my respects to the Legend....got quite choked up stood there I won't lie!! nice to see whole families there, and all the kids placing flowers, shirts, and scarves down.....It will be one amazing football team having a knock around in heaven today......RIP Sir Bobby

UTD fans are too kind and they don't have the bollocks like the scousers to do anything, this would never have happened to Liverpool I am speaking as a UTD fan. RIP Sir Bobby. It is incredible that Bobby was one of the greatest ever players in world football, but Georgie Best was still on another level. The fact we had Charlton, Best and Law with each with their unfathomable talents on the pitch alongside Sir Matt's guidance is practically impossible to recreate today.

World Cup winner, European Cup winner and Ballon d’Or winner…..only 9 players have achieved this in the history of the game. R.I.P Sir Bobby…. For reference the others are Gerd Muller, Franz Beckenbauer, Palo Rossi, Zinedine Zidane, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaka, and Lionel Messi, that’s the standard, but Sir Bobby did it first. The greatest English player, no question.

Am not a United fan, am City, but i grew up as the likes of Bobby Charlton were playing the game, and icons like him played the game because they loved it , not for the money.... Best, Law, Charlton, Lee, Bell, and Summerbee, they ALL played purely for their love of the game .... and they were all an absolute joy to watch. They are all truly legendary characters, and not like the money grabbing players that we see in abundance today ...... i respected the United players of old, and i've never forgotten them.
