We were living in Japan in the early 1970s. We Americans had no idea and were surprised by some celebration (not sure if it's new year or what) but most households made their own fireworks and everyone lit them on a specific night. I could see a wall of fireworks and the sky, from the wall to all horizons looked full of fireworks. You couldn't watch all of it at once, the sky was full from the wall of fireworks to every horizon, Truly a spectacular display.

+ MrSrtdan Well, we here in the USA **could** have fireworks shows just like this if our cities weren't spending so much money on "other" things. For example, if they didn't give the police every new kind of weapon that comes on the market to HURT PEOPLE with then we too could have these kinds of pyrotechnics shows every year, and I don't mean their primary handgun. But sadly it's deemed far more important for the police to have every new type of gadget and device to make the public compliant to their every whim, not to mention the massive losses through lawsuits and settlements paid out to families of those which police have wrongfully arrested, maimed or unlawfully KILLED (innocent people, not suspects of crimes).

I just finished watching Dubai's 2014 Fireworks show and it was definitely amazing and spectacular...then some peeps mentioned Japan killing it so I have to see for myself and... I CONCUR! This was definitely the most wonderfully displayed fireworks and omg...those pinkish pom-pom fireworks are so amazing and it's like Japan's blooming CHERRY BLOSSOMS... what an amazing sight! But then again... RIP OZONE LAYER :( I hope Japan or anyone can invent an ORGANIC type of firework so we can still keep using this for special occasions and events :D
