Tried all the local dialects. Canadian bears prefer the term “take off bud” Vermont bears respond to the classic “get” New York bears have been known to use the phrase “Get outta here” amongst themselves. And of course Connecticut bears are partial to the tried and true “ time to leave”.

Yes they become acclimated to humans when humans continually encroach into their territory , making the area they are supposed to live and survive in smaller and smaller . The bears start eating out of gardens ,trash cans and breaking into homes and once the habit is formed they teach their cubs the same bad habits and end up getting shot and killed .

Also this is how a lot of black bears that live around people just act. We were staying at a lodge in Nederland CO sitting by the campfire and this black bear came up and just chilled with us. We had several firearms around so we weren't concerned, but, bear was chil.

A neighbor of mine at Lake Tahoe left the kitchen window slightly open after frying some bacon. Went to the store and when she returned, her front door (which led into the kitchen) was completely torn off the hinges. A bear had entered, enjoyed the bacon, then proceeded to rip the refrigerator apart and eat whatever it wanted. Not the bears fault though. Found out later, a family who had rented a cabin down the street had been leaving food out for the bear. The game warden went and had a talk with them.

♥️ the fact the land was cleared to build all the houses,including this jerk's house, and clearing that land destroyed the bears food supply, the least the neighbors can do is walk to the edge of the woods and leave food and water there every day. This way the bear can eat and go back in the woods without being forced to go to the houses out of hunger.Most humans have no compassion left.

My husband and I live on top of a mountain in the Litchfield Hills of CT and border a state forest so obviously have a plethora of birds and animals in and through our property almost daily. We are visitors here as they we all here first. We very happily coexist with these beautiful animals every day, enjoying their beauty and sometimes antics. This sweet bear is not to blame in the least. He was out and about looking for food as bears do. If he finds an unsecured trash can or an open garage door with a fridge full of food (jackpot!) he will return hoping for more ! Anyone watching the news would know these big boys can open a door be it car or house and saunter on in again looking to fill his or her belly. Again easy to open kitchen cabinets, etc revealed more yummy sweet treats as they have a sweet toorh. So then he is only going to revisit again and again. The common sense approach? Don't put trash out until morning of trash day, close and lock garage and all doors and secure outdoor fridge ... This shouldn't be hard. An ounce or two of prevention is worth a giant furry butt in your house of cure ! I hope I don't hear that anything terrible has happened to this cute fellow. Drop him off gently in an abandoned apple orchard in upper CT. 🐻🍎

Wish the man had told him he was a "good boy (or girl)" for leaving. Bear "nuisance" / destruction is our own human fault ! At the very least - we must stop putting our food waste in the garbage. There are PROPER ways to compost food. At the very least - we must stop cutting down habitat. No more removing forests (not for buidling - not for solar either - - solar belongs on rooftops and over parking lots !) ! And with the heat and drought we're having - - all the wildlife is even more needing of food and water ! Wishing everyone of us common sense and Absolute well being !

He’s a black bear. They are less aggressive than grizzlies or polar bears, and much, MUCH smaller (basically human-sized but of course with that ridiculous ursine strength). Most don’t attack unless there are baby bears nearby or unless the person does something dumb. This guy looks more confused than anything else. I hope he was able to find some water and a place to nap.

That bear will watch him at night from the back deck. He will punch in a door toward fall when he becomes "hungry as a bear" in search of high calorie food. Humans are a plentiful source for bear necessities. He may have walked in looking for the keys to the car.

We are cutting down the woods everywhere to build homes and infringing on their territory. That and the fact that not alot of ppl hunt bear anymore. You used to be able to just take the head to the weigh station but now they want the whole bear, you know what a pain in azz that is to drag a 500lb bear out of the woods? Its takes several strong men and the meat isn't that great. They are everywhere

When I lived in CT 25 years ago there were no local bears. One wandered down from The Massachusetts Berkshire’s and it was the big news story for a couple of days. So it seems bear have become more common, but people don’t quite know what to expect.
