I've had a BCA 7.62x39 upper for 2 years, running on a PSA lower. I've had no issues with this set up. However, I did have issues with the metal mags (C Products), but a little filing on the front mag lip & they work fine. You can load a few rounds in the mag & push them out by hand. If the shell hangs up on the mag front, you need to file out this area.

I bought a full rifle and put about 2000rds through it all steel case before the extractor spring and insert wore out just an FYI to replace them with a BCM kit. I have since changed ALL the internals out to nickel boron because of the carbon fouling, especially the bolt. I put another 600 rounds through it since i swapped everything out and it runs like a champ on steel case with an XP hammer spring and extended firing pin getting sub moa at 100yds tulammo HP using a holosun 515cu paired with their hm3x magnifier.

I have the 7.62x39 upper from BCA with the standard hand guard, you won't even notice the extra kick and I didn't have any miss fires during my first trip to the range with it yesterday. The only thing bad about just getting this upper together was Wal-Mart discontinuing the sale of the ammo I got one box before they stopped selling 7.63x39. This upper shoots better than the 5.56/.223, C products defense is the way to go with magazines.

I was looking for a 7.62x39 upper for my Smith and Wesson Sport 2 and found the Bear Creek Arsenal at such a good price at the gun show that I bought an Anderson Lower (they didn’t have Bear Creek Lowers) to go along with it. For around $400 total, I have a really nice rifle. Found out about the 223 magazines not holding the 7.62x39 without nose diving so ordered some Ammo Storeage Components AR30 magazines for it. Haven’t gotten to shoot it yet, but have a lot of ammo, so will be putting it through the test. The Bear Creek Arsenal upper is quality all the way, nice heavy barrel, floating forearm and nice scope, flip up sight mounting platform. Looking forward to a lot of fun and hunting with this round. I have been successful before with 7.62 hollow points on deer, one shot in the heart of neck , in front of the shoulder, brought them down in their tracks, whereas I had some bad experiences with .223 over the years. I just purchased the complete BCA 7.62 x 39 rifles this month. So far the rifle has ran flawlessly. I use the CPD magazines and have had no issues. I changed out the firing pin for a Black Rifle Arms enhanced firing pin. The only issues that I have had is that when took the bolt apart, the inside of the bolt was very rusty. Cleaned the rust and did not see any pitting. I plan to purchase a new bolt after seeing all the rust. After clean the weapon and getting it all lubed up, I took the rifle to the range to get it sighted in. Using Golden Tiger 124g Ammo, the weapon produced .50 MOA at 50 yards. It produced a little over 1 MOA at 100 yards. I tested Monarch, TulAmmo, and Red Army Standard at 100 yards and could not get any better than 2.5 MOA and over 3 MOA with the TulAmmo. I am still testing ammo with this rifle but the Golden Tiger ammo has proven to be the best steel ammo so for for the rifle I have. I will be testing some brass a moon the next range outing. Will try some PPU, S&B, FIOCCHI AND FEDERAL AMERICAN EAGLE to see what it does. So far after shooting the first 150 rounds, I have not had any FTF, FTE or Light Primer Strikes. So far it has lived up to the $340 budget price.

Another problem that seems to be pretty common with 7.62x39 chambered AR15s is that Milspec trigger and hammer springs don't offer enough power to ignite hard primers found on surplus ammo.

If you zero at 150, you will only be 1.3 inches high at 100, and only 3.3 inches low at 200, and still carrying around 900 ft lbs of energy, over 1000 if using 154gr, this is an excellent cartridge to 200 yards and easily accurate enough to use at that distance, people discount the effective range of the x39 all the time, yet they praise the long distance capability of a 77gr .223 I've never understood that, the 77gr bullet drops like a rock compared to lighter faster bullets until you get out to very extreme ranges, yet they act like the x39 is useless due to bullet drop beyond a few yards.

I really wish the Olympia uppers were cheaper. Big Bolts that can handle WSSM Cases easily, but they will never be cheaper since they have no competition.

Does anyone know if the 6.5 Grendel mag works with 7.62x39 ?
@amandasmith29654 жыл бұрын
No they do not. 6.5 grendel has a straight wall not like the tapered wall of the 7.62x 39

Negative Goast Rider! Buy Cproducts(Duramags) 6.5 Grendal mags. They work great in 762×39. The difference in mags is not enough to be a concern. Again:only the Cproducts(Duramags) 6.5 have run 100%. I can't vouch for any other, nor will I ever buy any other. Get 762×39 CPD mags if you can, if not 6.5 will run 100%.

In the end you still have to round the front of the magazine...at least with the 7.62..if you don't..the case will drag on the front of the mag...amazing that the magazine companies haven't figured this out yet. But they want to do the same thing for the 7.62 as they do for the 5.56..even though they don't work the same..just saying...if you got a 7.62..get a dremel and round down the front of the magazine. Otherwise it's probably not gonna run as you want it to

I'm wondering if anyone has had issues with steel case ammo causing damage to the rifle. I've been considering getting a Bear Creek upper in 7.62x39, but their web pages for these uppers include a disclaimer (a warning) that using steel case ammo may damage the rifle! I know that some folks have experienced some reliability issues with AR rifles chambered for this round, but I'm not aware of any rifles actually being damaged by the use of steel case ammo. I see a lot of good reviews of Bear Creek uppers, but I don't know why anyone would buy one of these if they can't run the lower-cost steel case ammo.

What do you need to know? 7.62x39 is a very tapered cartridge. It doesn't need the help 5.56x45 does. Have you ever looked inside an AK?

I'm going to say one word UNIMAG!! By Ross defense I think is the company's name I kept buying those ugly curved mags and they all are not a hundred percent reliable I bought that unit magwitch holds 25 rounds of 7.62 x39 and my AR runs flawlessly. I can now depend on this thing with my life

@michaelw.urbansr.86175 жыл бұрын
As u said the issues were with how to best feed the AR Platform chambered in the 7.62x39.But if your in a restrictive or oppressive state such as myself then you dont have to worry since we are only permitted 10rds to start with.This isnt much issue with the rounds in such a SHORT mag.My biggest problem is finding a rifle maid by BCA or others with a 10rd capacity as a standard.Most of the time i cant get the rifle due to the inability of the dealer being able to switch out the mags to make it a 10rd rifle.So i cant buy it or have to get it without a mag altogether!!! So it is quite frustrating to be honest.But back to your point not an issue if only allowed 10rds in any gun save a tube fed .22LR
@cleatussfmo74374 жыл бұрын
Buy the rifle with a 30 round steel mag, take the mag apart and tac a stop plate inside to restrict it to 10 rounds...compliant and you dont look like a goof with a stubby mag.
