😢 no it was enclosed, you can see she was trying to find a way out, probably thought the window went on because it was probably mirrored.

I work at this zoo and can say the wild ducks that hang here have a death wish lmaoo from picking fighting with our peackcocks that roam the park to trying to nest in lunas pond (the grizzly in the video ) almost had a whole unit dedicated to replacing them lol

Hilarious actually how they call the bear's name and all. If no protective glass, I bet they would go and try hug it, preventing it from eating the ducklings...

These are wild ducks. Not zoo property. The zoo stated this in a press release. Brown bears are carnivores and eat ducks in the wild so it's kind of to be expected

@Hybridhearted The chicks didn't just hatch over night, the zoo should have called wild life services to check on and relocate all off the ducks and eggs as soon as the nest was found. The zoo is not taking responsibility for their lack of care to the enclosures and animals who live in them. They dont know what kind of diseases or mites/ticks these ducks could spread to their animals and guests. Complete neglect on the zoos part and it's sad how noone working this case had the common sense to realize this. What does that say about our saftey?

A zoo is not, in any way, a natural environment - to those of you who keep insisting nature is what we're witnessing. In nature the parent duck would've instinctively led her brood to deeper water, thereby neutralizing any bear's efforts. The decision to put any of them into an enclosure essentially doomed one of them to this 'unnatural' fate.
@Hybridhearted

They are wild ducks. The zoo said this in a statement
@RaineMaven

@@Hybridhearted, that they know (knew) reenforces my point all the more, and it's not likely the surfacing of this video was the first they were aware of the issue, if the sole purpose of their existence is animal welfare then proactively mitigating recurrence should've been a no-brainer. Even a novice would conclude it's not likely the ducklings were mature enough to have flown into the enclosure either.

Bears eat ducks. Get over it. You go to a zoo to see wild animals. If you happen to see it eating during the visit. THATS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU LOOK AT WILD ANIMALS. I guess a bears just not supposed to eat cause "boo hoo, we have kids here." Who cares? Its good for them to experience.

How TF did the ducks even get into the enclosure? That’s beside the question small mammals and reptiles should only be enclosed. The bear deserves to be free in the wild…
@Flameblight
@Flameblight 3 ай бұрын
It's a duck. She flew in, laid eggs in possibly the single worst place within a hundred miles to do so, and this is why. The real surprising part is that she managed to hide herself and her nest long enough for them to hatch in the first place since she likely would've abandoned them long before hatching if she so much as saw one of those bears nearby beforehand.

Hi, animal lover here! A large number of animals end up in zoos or at animal sanctuaries due to specific circumstances preventing them from taking care of themselves. This could be due to injury, sickness, or even just being dependent on humans for a large port of its life. In many cases the animal is there because it likely wouldn’t live as long in the wild. Yes I do understand that there are unethical people and practices that are often involved with keeping of wild animals, that isn’t always the case ❤️

@@HarryCarterMetcalfePark414 Yes I mentioned that in my comment haha. For clarification a lot of zoos do end up doubling as animal sanctuaries IF they have people with the specialization needed. Does that make sense?

Idk why they let outside animals into enclosures anyway. Isn't that risky in possibly spreading diseases that wouldn't ordinarily be likely for these types of domestic animals to contract? You aren't even supposed to let indoor cats interact until after a quarantining period anymore!
