4:55 Impressive that its Hopkins himself in that shot with the bear. Usually actors don't get that close to Bart. However, he's very careful not to make eye contact. Bart was such an incredible animal actor. The production probably wouldn't have gotten the incredible footage with any other bear. Props to trainer Doug Seus!

That is the only way to kill it. The bear using his own weight to kill himself. Would the bear really have been stupid enough to fall for it.
@DRose2Fast2 жыл бұрын
@@adamcollins915 In reality I don’t think that a bear would fall for that, and I think it would know that sharp thing can impale it, so it would improvise its attack strategy.
@adamcollins9152 жыл бұрын
@@DRose2Fast Yes I can understand bears falling into the bear pit Baldwin fell into later. Those are well disguised. Both Hopkins & Baldwin were waiving the spears infront of the bear. So it would just palm the spear out of the way prior to mauling Hopkins. The bear had stalked & fought them so wasn't going to fall for such a sucker punch. I'll investigate & see if the deadfall is a technique used in reality.

Apart from the deadfall, can't see how else they could have killed the bear. His body was much too strong to succumb to jabbing. Being able to jab the spears into his eyes would have disorientated the bear. And made him madder.
@joshschaeffer33002 жыл бұрын
True or it would have blinded the bear or with any penetration it might have killed it or hurt it and enabled one or both to strike a grievous incapacitating strike or thrust. Or it might have fled or allowed them to get away and it not be able to pursue. The eyes are generally given as targets when experts advise how to survive an attack by a large predator like a bear or a shark or a dangerous canine breed. Those spears would have been fire hardened and would deliver alot more damage than just a sharpened stick that had not been firehardened. In real life they most likely get gutted by the bear but in theory there plan could have worked easily.
@adamcollins915 Жыл бұрын
@@joshschaeffer3300 Yes go for the eyes. Another method would be to seperate. Stand 30 yards away from each other. While the bear is focused on one man, the other man can stab it on it's blind side.
