About The BEAR® Implant
The Bridge-Enhanced® ACL Restoration (BEAR®) Implant is a proprietary bio-engineered implant used to facilitate healing of the torn ACL. Unlike reconstruction, which is the current standard of care, the BEAR Implant does not require a second surgical wound site to remove a healthy tendon from another part of the leg or the use of a donor tendon. The BEAR Implant acts as a bridge between the two ends of the torn ACL. The surgeon injects a small amount of the patient’s own blood into the implant and inserts it between the torn ends of the ACL in a minimally invasive procedure. The combination of the BEAR Implant and the patient’s blood enables the body to heal the torn ends of the ACL back together while maintaining the ACL’s original attachments to the femur and tibia. The BEAR Implant is absorbed by the body as the ACL heals.
The BEAR Implant was granted De Novo Approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in December 2020. It is indicated for skeletally mature patients at least 14 years of age with a complete rupture of the ACL, as confirmed by MRI. @@amir6323 I asked my surgeon about this surgery when I tore my acl. He told me the numbers on it are not good. People end up tearing their acl again far more frequently than a hamstring or patellar tendon graft.

Apparently according to the latest research you can but you would have to get an assessment to confirm.

Look into an ACL primary repair with an internal brace augmentation. Ive had 2 ACL surgeries on both knees. One was your typical ACLR with BTB Patella 6 years ago and the new procedure of ACL primary repair with internal brace. First procedure was a long recovery 9-12 months and was on crutches for at least 2 weeks. Second one was 3 months ago and I was already off crutches the next day with little to no muscle loss. Night and day difference.

Look into ACL primary repair with an internal brace. More than 50% of ACL tears can be repaired as long as the tear happens closer to the femoral bone it can be repaired. Ive had both the traditional ACLR with the patella graft and ACLR primary repair on different knee. Its a night and day difference. I only used the crutches to get home from the hospital and the next day I was off the 🩼. Where as going with the traditional reconstruction, the recovery takes 9-12 months. As your leg muscles atrophy a lot and my knee was never 👎the same.
