Let me just say, being an economist myself, I simply LOVE the hilarious theme this one has. Working in financial markets is stressful, so this kind of jokes is appreciated. By the way, don't let the graphic design fool you - the way these events function is designed very well, and they reflect the real world, as much as it can be done for the purposes of a board game, of course. I wouldn't use this game as a training manual for stock traders, but the foundation of the game mechanisms used is based on reality. It is very much the same feeling I get from some things in Hegemony, especially what happens when the IMF gets involved :) As having lived in a country that used to be under an IMF programme, I can appreciate that inside joke a lot. The same goes for Bear Raid, its humour is very much on the money - pun definitely intended :)

Seems like a game you could easily teach in person by doing one uncovered practice round, I love it! It was supposed to arrive tomorrow for me but the UPS truck got in an accident so I have no idea when I’ll get it.

I wonder if making your holdings public would make it more party game-y

Thank you - Enjoyed this. One question about moving the 'Stock Marker' Cube on each company during the players turns when they take the dice. Why? I must have missed something. How does where the Cube is during the turn effect anything if it's just going to be reset when you roll the dice?

It’s just a visual reminder that, RIGHT NOW, this is the current situation. That’s all:) Glad you enjoyed the stream and hope it helped!

@@Heavycardboard Appreciate the work you do. One reason I'm going to seek clarification here is - I have a shelf of 'HC' games that is entirely your fault. Shout out to your crew - Shrey, Martin, Derek, Martin, Greg, Alyssa, etc. Excellent people to game with. But when does the Current Situation matter? This is simply to make sure I'm not missing anything. It confused me to move the cube when it turned out to have no effect and seemed to be reset upon the new dice roll. The Current Situation is moot though right? It feels a little misleading to be moving that cube when taking dice. A new player would assume it matters eventually. They might look at the cube move and make a plan because of it, not knowing it doesn't mean anything. Would it be better to leave it so it is an accurate record of what happened rather than move it around for no purpose? I skimmed the rules and don't see any instructions to adjust the cubes. It won't effect the game to leave the cubes static, right? I just feel like I'm missing something :) Regardless, you sold a copy.

@@DynnysW I just got to play tonight, and we did the same thing that they did. It helped the other players see what the current situation was at a glance, without having to having to mentally add the dice together and look up values for each company (assuming no one "messed" with the stock by adding more dice). It also seemed a little more fair for players that were further away from some of the companies and couldn't see easily.

Yellow shares weren't reset to 5 at the beginning of round 7.

Love the video. This game was pitched as a party game. Either this games less of a party game than advertised or this is a very intellectually dry party.

Interesting. I think I prefer Stockpile. Surprised HC has not covered that game.

I really like the idea of the game but cheating seems too easy. Mixing up the distribution of your shares is no problem. If the market is not for you, fix your portfolio in secret (long to short position and vice versa). I can't play this with competetive players :(
@Heavycardboard2 жыл бұрын
Competitive players can still be honest. I'd hope that integrity wouldn't be an issue with the folks people choose to game with. :( I wonder if there could be a master log where each transaction can be written to cross-reference if that would help? But then again, if that's an issue with the folks you're playing with, I'm sorry :(

@@Heavycardboard Yes, I know. But the payers who would play this game with me are mean, very mean :D. We try to mock each other every time possible but this can lead to strong emotions thus sometimes cheating. Very often it is not possible but here, it could be problematic. But maybe there are some ways to reduce the chance of successful cheating. But more important would be, to be honest: Do you need bear raid if you have Srockpile? :D
