I know that you have a "friendlyship" with these specific bears, and I also know that Black Bears in particular have a "bluff then run and ask questions later" mentality when it comes to "normal" human interaction but I have to ask.. @soniadowney7427 Well, I don't know for sure, but Patrick has won her trust by not hurting her or scaring her over hundreds of visits, including many with various sets of her tiny cubs. He has also behaved the same way when she visits, so she knows what to expect every time. He is a good man, and she is a delightful bear. We are so lucky to watch their beautiful relationship. 😍

Think that puts her firmly in the habituated category but still need to exercise cation because being wild she can still do harm. But by working to keep a distance between bear and human that helps make it a "bit" less risky.

Rassures toi comme beaucoup d'animaux ,les ours ne s'accompagnent d'un conjoint que très peu de temps juste pour la période de copulation.. Pendant longtemps Ruby s'est montrée plus craintive, mais là elle semble de plus en plus à l'aise, même si ce porche est normalement le territoire historique de Simone.... Y a-t-il eu un conflit de territoire, que Ruby a gagné ?...c'est une question...en attendant Ruby profite de sa villégiature lol...
