If a bear sow is accompanied by cubs, then she isn't waiting for more. That’s truly a special connection you have with this wild family.
@BobC592 жыл бұрын
Agree, except that the mother actually brought the cubs to him. There is at least one or two times he has felt the need to do something to make a cub back off (couldn't see exactly what he did because he's behind the camera). Mom just sat there looking disinterested. And, this mamma has had two litters (that I am aware of), and knows Patrick and his porch quite well. (Have you seen the one where he's in the yard and mamma comes down off the porch? Wow! He goes kind of behind her to move toward the steps and she does a false charge! How he didn't even flinch is beyond me! I think the lesson there was DO NOT go behind a bear so that it cannot see what you are doing - natural defense kicks in.

That's the most aggressive I've seen Milo unless I missed something. I don't think he was purposefully being aggressive or meant harm. They were ready at the time of this video to be kicked out of the family. I think it was within a week or so that she kicked them out of the nest. They are the same as teenagers now...testing the boundaries and not quite knowing if it's ok to 'play' with Patrick, and not knowing their own capabilities. Notice Milo left and tried to play with his mother. I think it was just a teenager messing around with the boundaries. But Patrick knew to put him in his place. Allowing it to go further could be dangerous for the next human he would encounter. As for his sister...isn't Luca her name, I've never seen her get rowdy. She's usually not even been very curious. No they will get a lot bigger before leaving their mom. It used to be that experts thought bears stayed with their moms around a year and a half, but now they claim bears stay on average 2 and a half years. They claim that bears are now staying an extra year compared to 30 or 40 years ago. In reality they have just done more research and found out they were wrong. Some experts have even witnessed bears stay with their moms for around 5 years. A lot of times you will see a bunch of bear cubs that are much bigger than the mom, and they are still following her around. I think it really just depends on the bears, and there is no real set time, but it does seem apparent that most bears stay longer with their mom than most experts claim. Kinda weird how the experts keep getting things wrong. They must've really had their minds blown when they discovered whales and dolphins breastfeed their babies.

Черные медведи убили много людей в Америке, хотя они меньше по размеру. Обычно медведь напуган или загнан в угол. Но, по крайней мере, американские черные медведи не так агрессивны, как евразийские черные медведи. Или лунные медведи.

Wow your dumb. The cub was seeing if he could eat him. He tried to bite him and put his paw down on his foot. That’s what they do to their prey they hold them down and eat them alive. Bears seem cute when there little but make no mistake they could easily eat u especially cubs. This is a horrible situation. U never wanna feed bears or get them used to humans. Because that’s what gets them put down or hunted because they should have a natural fear of humans

@nikfp2 жыл бұрын
For anyone that reads this, please remember that bears are wild animals and their first instinct is their own survival including feeding themselves and self defense, and for sows defense of their cubs. This video, though cute to watch, doesn't paint the full picture. If a bear deems you a threat, competition for food, or is hungry enough they can and will attack, and they are much stronger and faster than any human could hope to be. If you see a bear, you should be respectfully keeping your distance and discouraging their curiosity toward humans. I've lived in bear country my whole life, and bear / human interactions has become a huge issue. The bears are so habituated to human presence that they don't see humans as a credible threat anymore, and people are getting hurt as a result. People don't realize that these animals are predators and what they are capable of. "Problem" bears are also routinely euthanized because they can no longer be deterred from using human presence as a food source, often by breaking into cars and houses and becoming aggressive towards humans. Most of the towns in the region have regulations in place that all trash has to be in bear resistant containers with steep fines for non-compliance, but the abundance of human provided food has still led to a population explosion over the last 2 decades, and now the bears are hungrier and bolder when searching for food. Many campsites in our area have had safety closures due to aggressive bears as well, with a closures due to bears breaking in to camper trailers to steal food. A determined bear will get into anything they want. Please be careful around these animals and be aware when you are in bear country. Don't sleep in tents with food, make enough noise when hiking that you won't sneak up on a bear, and ask local guides and outfitters for advice on how to live and camp in the area. And remember that bears spotted "in town" have already lost their fear of humans, meaning they are less likely to run when confronted and more likely to fight back. Be safe.

I was thinking the same thing. For the first few video's I kept wondering how he could resist feeding and petting them. Had it been me I'd have been rushing the cubs going "Aaaaawwwwwwwwww!", and probably getting my face ripped of for being and idiot and spooking them. Or I might have fed them treats, resulting in them getting used to "go here for food" and maybe them not taking no for an answer on the day I didn't have any snacks. All of this just makes the way the owner of this channel interacts with them all the more impressive. As far as I can tell, he does everything right.

I reckon that the cubs are anxious because they sense Simone is not well. I think they are probably hungrier than usual as they can't travel so far, and were a bit more testy with Patrick when no food was forthcoming. I think that particularly showed when the cub climbed up for a staredown with Patrick, then started clacking his jaws (which I've never seen any bear do on this channel).

It is nice that this video also includes the part where the little bear goes to bite the mother around the neck area, it shows it is not a "I am trying to make you food" type bite. It is an "I am exploring my world in what few ways I am able" bite. Dogs do the same when young and learning about the world, only they are not likely to mame or worse in their playful exploration.
