Luck of the draw to be in the right place at the right time to see such a rare sight! I was fortunate enough several years ago to see a momma bear and two cubs cross the road in front of my car as I was leaving the visitors area. My son and I saw a bear near the Mount LeConte Lodge about three years ago. I didn't know they ventured that high in this park.

I had this exact same experience on Sunday, December 7, 2014! The only difference, there was only 1 cub. The most exciting part of my trip!

We walked the 11mile route last Wednesday and week before. Saw 2 bears while all the bicyclist were speeding by seeing nothing. What is the point of going there to see how fast you can peddle go down a road?

I don't think people realize that a female bear is 10 times more dangerous when she has her cubs with her.
@jago767 жыл бұрын
People are far more dangerous. Just treat bears with respect and you'll be fine.
@Floridafanatic287 жыл бұрын
Yeah, except the problem is many people don't understand what respect is in regard to a bear thus making the encounter dangerous! You give people far too much credit!
@1940limited6 жыл бұрын
I realize how dangerous they are with cubs. I keep my distance and enjoy the show. These people were smart to stay in the car.
@StevenTorrey5 жыл бұрын
They are protected in the car...
@raywhite71795 жыл бұрын
Everyone knows mama bears are much more dangerous when she has her kids. There are cliche sayings about it and all. 'She's like a mama bear with her kids' and 'don't mess with mama bear' etc. etc. Like, who doesn't realize female bears are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more dangerous with her cubs. Hiking 101: don't mess with baby animals, especially bear cubs. LOL

My daughter saw one in a tree, behind my neighbor's house a few years ago. We live in NW Alabama.

These little ones are smarter than my dog. I think my dog would have just slowly walked across the road or stayed in the middle of the road.

Cades Cove is beautiful. we have a timeshare in Gatlinburg and visit it every summer. this was awesome as well. I've seen a lot of bears up there..luck of the draw. I just saw a bear Monday here where we live and I think it's the biggest bear I've ever seen here.
