Side Order made me appreciate Marina and Pearl’s relationship so much more. Marina lived a life where she lived at the will of others, living orderly from day to day doing what others told her too, but Pearl was that loud presence and chaos in her life that made her realize it’s okay for things to change and for her to explore what she wants.

It's a really nice dynamic between the two, especially considering how lonely Marina must have felt after leaving the Octarian World, like, her whole life was with them. SPOILERS: When you reconfigure Eight's palette, Acht's messages to Marina are discovered, emphasizing how much Marina's departure caused a stir mainly because Marina was the brains behind many of the Octarian Arsenal. Her leaving was a very, very, big deal.

@@cowfin06in a way that’s true: Pearl was born with abnormally powerful vocal chords, so before she met Marina she was destroying sound equipment and getting kicked out of bands (SashiMori - not officially but hinted strongly). Marina’s technology allowed Pearl to be recorded for the first time without destroying anything. You could interpret that as Marina bringing order into Pearl’s life, or at least into her career.

I love the realistic detail on acht and marina's mixing. everything from taking the headphones off one ear so you can here the the song playing against the song you're trying to introduce, scratching the record to match up the beats, changing the base and mid before adding the song and then dropping it in right when the buildup starts, bouncing up and down to keep track of the beat. it's a one to one creation of what an oldschool DJ does and it's incredible to watch. and i just noticed that marina is using a modern digital music controller while acht is the one using an old controller in tandem with a vinyl record player which is so cool because it fits perfectly in line with marina being the more tech savvy one whereas acht seems to prefer the more traditional gear which is also significantly harder to use because you don't have a visual display of the beats to help you and have to do it using just your ears.

When you think about it…Side Order summarizes Splat 2’s entire story. 1/2 of Idol Pair goes ‘missing’. Ends up being controlled in some way by a villain. You fight them. And rogue A.I. tries to ‘remake’ the world in its image. You also battle it with Off the Hook performing.

To me, this entire final sequence felt like what I imagine a drug trip is like. In a good way though. Seeing Acht’s eye for a split second with emotion when they typically just have the same deadpan expression was really cool. As well as the part where you got to press ZR with the beat :)

ok guys, at this point. The idea that Marina is crushing on Pearl is just text. In one of the elevator conversations she gets overly protective when Acht is giving Pearl compliments and is like "How can you flirt with Pearl in fro-", actually main currency is prlz (as in pearlz), in one of the dev diaries Marina decides that the tower is a thing because "It's like Pearl reaching to save a princess", (further on that Pearl being a drone that helps the player is a major part of her original design), Pearl has SO many pictures of pearl, one being even her laptop background. Yeah sure, I can grant that Pearl doesn't realize it. Yet, but all the evidence shows that Marina wants to be more than roommates. And then there is the Japanese version of all the dialogue from splatoon 2, which just removes all the subtext really.

i keep coming to watch this cus it's just so damn powerful, the excitement i felt during the whole segment at 8:50 is something no other game's given me man. still makes me teary eyed, i just love how strong the whole scene is. i'm so sad u can only replay the second phase of the fight in game. it's still such a sick comeback fight to end off on, i love it, but the sheer excitement i get from the whole transition is unbeatable god i love this game

For anyone wondering the dualies are the best weapon to use for beating the spire especially if you can find a replacement for reefslider from the vending machine. Many of the perks pair very well with the dualies and they’re easy to use.

i found the splattershot with homing and dmg and poison ink with sticky ink with the killer wail special was great - the bomb could be sprinkler for zone maps or splat bombs for portals - i used sprinkler for mine

Special Charge Up is a good safety net too. I used Big Man's Palette and had so much fun spamming Triple Inkstrikes with Pearl backing me up with Killer Wails frequently

What definitely helped me beat Side Order was that I used the Dualies, Four lives, reduced damage taken, equipped as much fire-rate Speed chips I could find, increased ink-drop chips, increased disk drop chips, drone splat bombs, nearby explosions from defeating enemies, and of course: *REEFSLIDER* .

Am I the only person who feels a little bad for Order? It really seems like he genuinely thought what he was doing was right and that we were the bad guys. He must've felt betrayed when Marina, his creator, went against him, since he thought she would understand. This caused him to lash out. I think he's supposed to be a personification of Marina's fear of change, which is why he acts the way he does. I doubt Marina meant for him to gain sentience, but when he did, he just tried to follow what his code was telling him: make everything orderly. Which is also why he relies to heavily on tech-based language. Did he take it too far? Definitely. But what else was he supposed to do? I think his Smollusk form is supposed to reflect how he feels on the inside. The memverse and him were only created awhile ago, making him basically a newborn. And since Marina didn't know what was happening, he was also left without a parental figure. In reality he seems more like a confused child thats scared of change and wants to create a safe world, than a malicious villian who wants to hurt people.

In chaos vs order it showed us a world where chaos was dominant but in side order it shows us what would happen if order was dominant you need Colour and life and that's what chaos kind of gives what order order gives a place where there's no colour there's no happiness there's only blank but if you have both them you can see all the colour and you have a perfect world you both need order and Chaos shows in the final battle version of the final boss come out of its smallest and he's a big chaotic and reckless he's a glitch glitch

The second phase was the first time in a long time where the game was so insane I couldn't help but have the biggest smile on my face. When Pearl's Color Wail popped off I couldn't stop laughing, it was too sick. The Splatoon team cooked with this one.

Not gonna lie, the end of each Splatoon single player mode since Octo Expansion has became the end of each Kirby adventure since Return to Dreamland. I mean, we know that now in the end of each journey in Splatoon since 2018, there’s a world-destroying mastermind in connection of the past of the Splatoon universe. And in Kirby games, each adventure starts with a peaceful grassland stage to the final battle with an ancient god like the Comet Monster who Credenza has called upon and tried to fall under her control in the Danger Force Series Finale. But not about that. It’s… *sigh* Look, all I’m trying to say is that the end of each Splatoon and Kirby adventure have pretty much a couples of things in common.

Some tips for Overlorder: -Mobility is really important, especially in the later stages of the fight when it starts using lasers and reefsliders. The ink rails and treadmills around the arena are good for getting in the air and just gliding away from the attacks with Pearl drone. Otherwise curling bombs can also be useful, at least for reaching one of the former things. -Some specials are definitely better than others. The ones I liked most were killer wail, triple ink strike, and ultra stamp. At first I thought ultra stamp wouldn't be good, but then I found out if you go right up to Overlorder then attack one of its tentacles, it has to keep turning to attack you and so laser eyes will just keep missing you, you're still mobile enough to recover if it uses its tentacle attack, and while that's going on you're doing like a thousand damage to it each hit. Crab tank wasn't very fun for me though since it's not the fastest and its tentacle attack kept launching me off the map to the point where I lost a run with all three lives left plus a continue trying to beat it with that special. -Crowd control is also really important. If you can get a lot of lucky bomb chips, special charge ups, or drone specials with drone gauge charge, do it. Especially lucky bomb, that goes crazy if you have a lot of chips.

finally beat this after getting lucky & stacking lots of rapid fire, large bullets, damage buffs, mobile refill/special charges up, and a triple splashdown at a vending machine. Worth the grind, what a fun final phase and spectacular music as always.
