I like to cut them in half roll in olive oil , salt and pepper ( sometimes chilli too ) then roast them until the edges go crispy. People just don't know how to cook the poor little buggers.

Gonna try anyway Beard... Peel the sprouts, stir-fry them with bacon, union, garlic and eat with a nice piece of meat and some boiled potatoes. Or mash them and mix it all up. Simply delicious. Thing is, its the core of the sprouts that give the bitterness. If you don't include that, you're good.

As a Chef I once deepfried in batter one of each of the chocolate bars we sold, Maltesers stick to the bottom of the fryer, Frys Turkish delight worked the best, they kept thier shape and did not melt too much, Snickers are great with Ice cream. Deep fried Battered bacon and Cheddar wedges are to die for.

IN the mid-late 70s (1976 i think) we had a very hot dry summer and there was a shortage of potatoes for chips. It was so bad there were numerous TV programmes suggesting alternatives to potatoes for chips. Parsnips was suggested as one alternative. They were fine, just a bit sweeter than potato chips. I do have mushy peas at Christmas. As well as Brussels, which I love.

Yeah I've never seen a battered/breaded turkey leg but in the states people to fry whole turkey's, When they're done right it's amazing... ive thought about trying it myself but I don't want to buy all the stuff needed for it and I found my preferred method of brining and cooking my turkeys a long time ago

I used to hate brussel sprouts, but I learned that if you put them in a pot with a knob of butter, coat them in Texas Pete Hot Sauce, and then top them with a healthy amount of McCormick's Brown Sugar & Bourbon seasoning... it is amazing! It cuts the bitterness.

My gran would deep fry carrots but with breadcrumbs instead of batter, and they are lovely

Hey Beard ... i like that you don't go overboard plugging the places you eat at... dropping their name at the start and complimenting the food if you feel it's worthy seems enough. You haven't sold out and i'll keep watching you throw food down your neck for that and many other reasons. Merry Xmas to you and yours.

Go to the South in the US. Fried turkey is very popular. It is not battered, but they fry turkeys whole!
