Nomads is a song that contains depressive atmospheric melancholy, depicting the dark experiences from his homelessness. Abel was once homeless and broke in a period of his life, and the song touches on that time period of homelessness. It's rather depressing, but very moving in a dark sort of way. The dictionary definition of a nomad is a person who does not stay long in the same place, a wanderer and this song expresses that nomadism. "I do it all to stay warm," he sings. "I do it all to get by. I do it all for a home for a night," he continues. "But baby I won't keep ya, just know that I'mma leave ya, so fuck me right, baby fuck me right, until I'm too tired to leave ya." When he was homeless, he'd find a girl at night and sleep with her only for a night so he has a place to sleep instead of the streets, and he'd be gone before she'd even wake up. Some of those girls mix that up with love and are deceived into believing that it's true love, but he's really using them for a home. It's sad, it's dark and it's reality for many people out in the cruel streets. She begs him to stay, for she's lonely and sad, and he tells her to fuck him until he's so numb that he passes out for the whole night. He expresses that it's not love because he can't feel love. It's just what it is, a sinister nomadic lifestyle jumping from woman to woman each night toying with their emotions. "I ain't playing with your heart, it's just a habit to let bitches know the truth." He also proposes alcohol to be consumed by the heartbroken girl who's crying, indicating that she can drink the memory away. A lot of things have changed since this song... This was a lifestyle that he couldn't change, and now he has the world wrapped around his fingers. Nomads has such a special place in my heart. The nostalgia when listening to his vocals brings so much sentiment. That, "I do it all for a home," line pierces my heart every listen. "I do it all to stay warm" makes me cry. Perhaps Abel is feeling pity for his actions now (sympathetic for the hearts he's broken). Whether that's the case or not, it's just a habit to let bitches know the truth. 2013 was the year...
