Lived in Beardsley Terrace for a couple of years in the 50's. Went to Beardsley almost everyday in the summer. Met some friends for life living in the Terrace. Hella fun we had!

Thanks for sharing Ary. I spent my High School years living on Seltsam Road adjacent to the lake. I used to spend a ton of time fishing and swimming in the lake and stream. In one of your shots you show a small Falls in the park. I caught a ton of trout in that falls area when I was a kid in the 50's and 60's. I still have a picture on my wall of my Mom in front of that Falls in the late 50's. What memories. The people that built that thruway over the lake should be drawn and quartered. What an abomination. Thanks again Ary.

I once lived in Hamden as a live in nanny. The kids went to a private school. Younger kids went to the Bronx zoo in NY. Then they decided one year, "Let's go to the Beardsley Zoo instead!!" That was the yr I got to go on the class trip. I was more of a group leader that day! I was like, we gotta find those 2 lions!!! Everybody gets to sit on those & get their picture taken!! Of course, no one knew what I was talking about, until we found those lions! Everyone I know has a picture of themselves & siblings, on those lions!!!

Back in the 1960s, I was told by some "old timers" there used to be an ice house near the dam and little island in Bunnells Pond. I used to work at the refreshment stand at the beach at the Pond. The highway now stands were the beach used to be. I worked in the summers at the stand from 1959-64.

I would like you to drive by the Holy Ghost Russian Orthodox Church on East Main St. It’s the oldest Orthodox Church in New England, founded in 1894. The bells in the church are Coronation Bells. A gift from Tsar Nicholas ll in1896. President McKinley allowed the bells to enter the USA duty free.

The Stone Pump House at 13:15 I guess they sand blast the graffiti off the exterior stones regularly - look at all the graffiti on the wood above the doorway. Inside, it looks like a place where druggie/homeless hang out at night. Sad. Maybe they should seal it all up.
