I think this is my favorite teatime movie of all of them. I think it’s amazing how Johnny could rattle off all that fast talking spiel without missing a beat. He rarely stumbled over the entire bit. Those were the days, Johnnie at 11:30, best monologues ever!

Better still when it ran to 1:00 a.m. ET/PT. Sadly, in 1980 cutting back half an hour -- from 90 mins. to 60 -- diminished the frequency of "Tea Time Movies" sketches, thereby reducing Carol Wayne's appearances. In addition Carson's work load changed over the years with Mondays off, then later, working three days a week. Substitute hosts filling in sometimes did wonderful jobs but NO ONE would / could touch "Tea Time Movie" -- Carson was the ONLY Art Fern.

@@scvandy3129 - This was only one of two appearances Ms. Wayne did as the "Matinee Lady" after Johnny so cut his workload. The other was her last, in January 1984. In-between, he tried out Danuta Wesley at least twice as the Matinee Lady (one of which turned up in a "Carson's Comedy Classics" episode); three months before Carol drowned, the "King of Late Night" had his final Matinee Lady - Teresa Ganzel - lined up.
