Used this trick today. You don't have to use a full on oxy torch. Got mine done with a yellow can MAP torch from Lowe's as my oxy torch tanks were empty. Beats grinding 2 notches and using a puller. 23 years of automotive service and still learning something new every day to make life easier.

Eric the hotter the flame the better it works. If you have a cutting torch that's the best way to go. My name it Justin. I'm the creator of the group you recemtly joined, Automotive Diagnosticians. I hope this trick saves you time in the future. It would be awesome to feature it in a video one day.

genius. I'm planning on using an electric torch after freezing the hub since I don't have a cutting torch lying around.

This might be fine for most cars, but in racing, or other extreme duty applications, avoid this, as it can de-temper (anneal) the hardened steel, or alloys present in the hub assy. Neat trick tho. I dig it.

Juan Fernandez the hub only gets warm to the touch doing this. only the race gets hot. this will not anneal the hub

Whats used here? 3/8 extension and ? I am so amazed. No more hammering god bless you man
@BLACKSSG856 жыл бұрын
황석 two 6 inch long 3/8 extensions. Two half inch sockets, one for the hub to sit on has to be smaller than the race so it falls past it, in my case a 27mm short, and the other is a 17mm deep in the center to allow the hub to spin nicely

BLACKSSG85 oh my god. I just realized why you used 2 extensions. You are genius.

For best results, make the flame as hot as possible
