Perfect timing, I literally just found your video while looking for alternatives to the overpriced MDF junk at the box stores. I downloaded your plans and see that it was designed to be 3" taller than "normal". Is there an easy way to convert this back to standard counter height? I'm assuming I would simply deduct 3" from the following parts: Side Panels Dividers Back, front, sides, front center, and verticals of bottom drawers Side and internal verticals of face frame Verticals for doors Height of the second from bottom horizontal drawer frame Finally, it seems as though the heights for the drawer slides is a bit arbitrary as long as appropriate steps are taken to line them up properly on the drawers, is that right?

Soooo….Im in the middle of cutting my plywood sheets from your plans and realized there’s one measurement missing! It’s for the hinged door centers. 5 1/8th by ? I feel like I should be able to figure this out, but….. I’m struggling.

Hi, thank you for the updated plan. I have completed the vanity (not painted yet) it looks awesome. I have one big issue I am not sure how to resolve. I used the door hinges you recommended from the link. however, my doors stick out too far out they are not on the same plane as the rest of the drawers or the fake drawer. I have maxed out all the adjustments. I just can't get the door flush with frame. Any ideas? I zoomed into your build video and they are flush with the frame. Your hinge on the video may be different than the one on the link.... Perhaps the manufacture has changed that model...!!?? Any help or recommendation is much appreciated and welcomed.

Thank you for making this video! You have a great pace. I’m getting ready to build a vanity and this helped. I also downloaded your plans. Quick question: the hinges you used for the doors aren’t on your materials list. Can you tell me which ones you used? Specifically I’m looking for the overlay measurement. Thanks!

This was by far the best video I found on how to build a vanity. I just finished renovating a small half bath that would never fit a standard sized vanity. I adapted your plans to build a 37”x16” vanity with two doors and two drawers. As an amateur woodworker I found it a lot easier to attach the stretchers and toe kicks to the sides first, and then attach the base. The toe kicks and stretchers allowed me to square everything up perfectly at the start. I also found it easier to mount the drawer slides, then attach the sides of the drawers to the slides, then I could get a pretty exact measurement for the drawer box front/back (found that idea on an Ana White video). I also found it easier to build and dry-fit the face frame in place once I had the vanity in its final place. I had no margin for error on the size of the face frame because I had a wall on both sides. I then built the doors and drawer fronts after the face frame was in place. Thanks for the awesome video!

I’ll be building another bathroom vanity and this video has me rethinking my plans as I think I over build mine as I got away from using pocket holes awhile ago for moe labor intensive methods but I wont get away from making my drawers using dovetails…nothing beats opened a drawer to see tight dovetail joinery on them. Nice job and I just bought that Homeright sprayer, it is an AMAZING sprayer for price!

In case you didn't notice and to avoid any future issues I seen you stop mid-cut and the saw pulled away from your straight edge @ 1:27 ... keep up the great work! BTW, I have these little WoodPeckers squares but am not sure mine have those little holes in them and I certainly don't have those clamps. I use Festool Domino DF500 which helps hold things aligned when gluing/clamping and went this way after seeing how out of alignment pocket screws pulled panels ... it looks like your method really holds it in position quite well! :)

Boy, did I need this! I took out my vanity with the intent to replace the side panel due to water damage. I had so much trouble replacing it so I said to my husband that we need to build one. After watching crazy amount of videos, this is the one that matched my brain! However my vanity will be only 36” wide so I got a little discombobulated with the drawer build. I think if I take it slow with the video and the FREE plans, I’ll be okay. 🥴. Thank you for helping us!

Great video, straight to the point. I downloaded the PDF, and it looks great. Q1) How do you fit all the required panels for 3/4 Inch into one 4x8' sheet? I am assuming a 1/8" kerf width. 5 cuts result in a loss of 0.0625"; I keep coming up short for all possible arrangments. My most optimal arrangement is (4+4+5.25+20.5+34+28=95.75) + 0.625 loss = 96.375 Obviously, I can compensate for the shortage of 0.375. However, I am wondering if I am missing something!? I appreciate your response.

Hey Jack. I'm building this vanity next weekend. I'm curious about two things. One, what was the reason for making the drawer back 1/2" shorter? Couldn't you groove it the same was as the other three sides, and insert the bottom before screwing the back on? So it's all locked in, no glue required. Two, what do you think about pre-drilling pocket holes along the front edge of the sides and dividers, so the face frame can be screwed on from behind with pocket screws instead of having to fill a bunch of brad nail holes?
@BearMountainBuilds
@BearMountainBuilds 6 ай бұрын
Good questions! 1. Making the back of the drawer 1/2" shorter allows for you to change out the drawer bottoms in the future if they get damaged over time instead of having to replace the entire door. 2. Using pocket screws to hold the face frame on would definitely work as long as you don't care if you see the pocket holes when you open the drawers.

Comes down to the dimensions of your under mount sink. You just need to make sure the dividers don't interfere with the sink bowl. You may need to shift the position of the dividers slightly to fit an undermount sink. This would impact the width of the drawers and front doors

@@BearMountainBuilds Yes that makes so much sense looking at your great downloadable plans I can now see how I would need to adjust the dividers and drawers. Look forward to having a go

It's a Kreg pocket hole jig. Here's the link to the one I use: amzn.to/3O8ITLB Here's a cheaper option for one too: amzn.to/3O94SCf

Did you use the poplar so you didn’t have to edge band ply? Why poplar and not pine? Fewer knots? Really enjoyed the video. I’m subscribed now!

You’re correct on both points I made the poplar face frame so I didn’t have to do edge banding and poplar is a very common wood to use because it is less knotty and paints well

@@BearMountainBuilds Thank you! I'm a total n00b, but watch woodworking videos in hopes of one day, being less of a n00b. Great videos. Think I've watched them all.

If I were going to stain this instead of painting, what would I have to change as far as materials? Or would it work to paint in brown, and do a wood grain stencil or something?

I’d recommend doing some testing with the stain you want to use on poplar and sanded plywood to make sure the colors are what you. They may be a bit different due to poplar having a slight green undertone. If they are different I recommend using aspen instead of poplar but remember to use wood conditioner on it before staining
