18:31 It amazes me how many people don’t know how fumble recoveries work. The first person who fell on the ball and had “possession” of it was an Eagle, and as soon as any Commander touched him, he was down by contact, the play was also blown dead by the refs. Only after this, did a Commander rip the ball out of his hands, after the play was over and the whistle was blown.
@xbeakerКүн бұрын
Exactly. The whistle was blown and the recovery signaled. That 'last man with the ball' thing where they peal the pile only matters when the refs can't see who possessed the ball. Which admittedly is usually the case in those loose ball scrums.
@thomasdaniels68243 күн бұрын
69 or whatever the number ripped the ball out after the refs clearly saw the eagles recover. The play was already dead.

Partially correct. It works by design, that is why is works with other EAGLES QB's. The centers' ball placement is completely different, which in turn makes a larger encroachment area. Thus more space before the defense can engage. By the time they can, the offense is already pretty much where they need to be.
@lessismoore16723 күн бұрын
Right now there’s three teams that do the tush push on a semi regular basis. The Bills and Ravens do it as well. It’s a QB/O-line skill set. Not everyone can do it cuz not everyone has the personnel. And it does get stopped more than you’d think. Enough where it’s not unbeatable

I'm betting you would love the Brotherly Shove if the Bears were able to run it. 92% play that's almost guaranteed? Everybody would run it if they could. They can't. That's not the Eagles fault. And that third turnover, the refs saw the Eagles recover the ball, then called the play dead. The Commanders ripped the ball out from the Eagles after the play was dead. Edit: I'm pretty sure Howie Roseman said that we're going to see why the Eagles paid Barkley at the beginning of the season. He wasn't wrong.

12:08 26 was running towards out of bounds and had his foot down clearly out (some said he had/almost had two steps out but Idk how true that is bc we only get one angle in highlights)and 0 didn’t make an effort to stop or turn. During the game the refs missed PLENY on the Commanders(probably the Eagles too) but one of the Commanders DC “basically threatened bodily harm in a passive aggressive way.” He said something along the lines of if Hurts runs the ball we’ll treat/hit him like a RB and our defense is going to step up. Eagles coach said, to summarize, no sh*t. Every one is trying to hit him like an RB but we have faith in out staff and players to take care of/protect themselves/their teammates. If your defense is gonna step up so will ours. Don’t forget you have a QB that runs too. F*ck around and find out. So everyone knew it was gonna be a very physical game. A lot of tempers flared up. A lot of petty stuff happened. A lot of potentially intentional stuff weren’t flagged. Some accidental stuff was flagged.

@ADadSupreme Ben Johnson will make Caleb Williams way better. I watched both Jaden Daniels and Caleb Williams this season. Washington did beat any good teams other than Eagles and a couple of other teams . Bears plays in the NFC north, and they were in it to the end in most of the games. Get Williams some linemen, and that kid is going to be good. Daniels is a one trick pony with a small frame like Bridgewater.

@@MG23418 It SHOULD be a major improvement from this year, but we don't know if Caleb regresses, personnel are gone/missing/injured, or the other coaches can't coach. I’ve seen so many people not understand that Baun had the recovery. The ref closest to the play was watching it. He saw that he had recovery. Then the Washington player touches him while on the ball. Therefore he’s down with recovery. Dead ball. When you see scrums, with whoever has the ball coming out of the pile, it’s because there was never visual recovery by the ref so they have to just go with whoever has the ball in the end. In this case it was clear to the ref watching the whole thing what happened so it was Eagles ball.

The tush push origins come from the rugby scrum, a play in which all eight forwards simultaneously push as a single unit. Eagles offensive linemen Jordan Mailata and formerly Isaac Seumalu both come from rugby playing nations and have experience in the sports. They were instrumental in helping the team develop the play as part of their strategy. NFL teams have been bringing rugby coaches in as special advisors for a few years now. You might have noticed a significant increase in offensive lineman pushing players from behind and not giving up on the play just because their running back has lost forward momentum. 5 years ago this was not even really a thing. The inspiration for the continued pushing by the offensive lineman also has its roots in rugby and a play that is referred to as a maul. The only effective way to stop the tush push, by the way, is for the defense to get lower with horizontal backs, bind together tightly, and push in unison as the linebackers push from behind. Collapsing the line or attempting to jump over the top will never work.

That hit out of bounds flag was more because of the helmet to helmet contact of it. If the defender pulled up even a little there, no flag would have been thrown. But he went in full on head down. It was dangerous for BOTH players and deserved the flag. In that play with Ertz, you'll notice Rogers does pull up. Instead of hitting Ertz full stride he sets himself so if Ertz goes out of bounds he won't get flagged, while also making sure if Ertz stays in bounds he can't really advance. Which is what happens. Really surprised 23 didn't get a flag for how he threw Smith down out of bounds. He was well out and the dude MMAs him to the turf.

Barkley was a full foot out of bounds when he hit him, that was a penalty, if he would’ve just reached for him & shoved him with his arm it wouldn’t have been a penalty, but he lunged at him with his shoulder when he was already out of bounds. The fumble at the end of the third quarter where the commander came up with it… the play was already over, when the Eagle fell on it as soon as he was down on the ground with the ball in his hands & touched by the commander the play was over.

With the late hit on saquon, I totally agree. It may have benefitted us but they have made the rules way to tough on the defense while offensive guys fake going out of bounds to get extra yards. My two things are that 1. That is the right call by the ref even though the rule itself is not great. 2. I feel like there is some knowledge in knowing how the guy plays when it comes to that stepping out of bounds stuff. Earlier in the game, Daniels scrambled towards the sideline and Baun just let him walk about without hitting him cause he knew Daniels doesn't do that stuff. I have never seen saquon do it either so maybe taking a different angle could have saved him but it is way too tough on defenders

The fumble recovery by the Eagles at the end of the 3rd quarter was simply because the refs had clear visibility that an Eagles player had possession of the ball, while also on the ground. In that case, the INSTANT he is touched by a Commanders player, by rule, the play is over. So, there’s no wrestling the ball away from that player. We only see possession given to the player who comes out of the pile with the ball, when the refs. didn’t clearly see who first had possession of it on the ground.

They didn't take the ball out of the commander's hands.On that fumble, the Eagles recover at the referee's called it for the Eagles player.Let the ball go.That's when washington came up with the ball because it already had been called for the eagles. Also, your quarterback was the worst quarterback draft it. You could tell when he lost his championship game and went and sat on his Mommy's lap. Crying like a little baby. You knew he was not going to be a leader. In the NFL, he is not a good quarterball. He does is mope around on the bench. Like a little baby. That's why the other players on the team don't like him. He's too much of a baby.
