Bears Fans, what do you think of Ben Johnson's demands? Reasonable? Unreasonable? Let's talk about it!!!
@jimsnyder63105 күн бұрын
Bears hiring rookie head coaches has been a repeated mistake. Maybe hire someone who has actually done the job before. The media does not tolerate on -the-job training in Chicago. Need someone with a polished reputation. Let's hope they do not fall for the internet hype again.

It is the smart thing to do for Johnson or any other coaching candidate. As much as Warren believes the Bears HC and GM jobs are at the top of the dream positions in the NFL, these guys see the disfunction just like anyone else. Johnson sees the Bears twice a year. You better convince him, or anyone else that this is going to be different moving forward. To be honest... Jim Harbaugh was the answer. He would not have hoped things change, he would have brough about that change himself.

Kevin Warren does not have a plan if he keeps Ryan Poles as GM- we may have been able to take a chance and land a SB WINNER in Bill Belichick. Ben Johnson has no experience as HC and will likely want a high salary.

I dont think Belichick would have been a good fit for this team, but they should have at least talked to him....

Ben Johnson is asking the Bears be accountable for the Bears losing and over such a long period of time. He at least is looking at the Bears and seeing what's gone wrong with them. The alignment of GM and HC is critical for future success facts 💯

Alignment doesn't mean what you think. He wants a GM to actually CONSULT with the coach! Don't draft and sign players without running it through the HC. He's saying he wants SOME say about who he has to coach. He's not "demanding" anything that every coach should be "demanding".

@bearsyard Ben Johnson is an elite playcaller and offensive architect, but neither of those things means that he will be a good head coach. I was really disappointed earlier this year when the Commanders hired Dan Quinn instead of Ben Johnson, but I was wrong to be disappointed. Quinn was the better fit with our GM Adam Peters, who was the Ben Johnson of GM candidates before our new owner hired him. Their relationship has set the tone for the entire organization. For the first time since our dynasty years, everyone in Washington is pulling in the same direction. That cohesion is the most important thing. Ben Johnson seems more than a little egotistical, but maybe he'll be a good head coach. Campbell has set a solid example for him to follow.

Promoting part of the problem is a recipe for disaster, as in Brown's case. My bet is the Bears will be hiring an unsuccessful former head coach.

So a coach with zero head coaching experience is enough to not go after the hottest HC candidate in the NFL? The only sound part of that plan is that we can assume the Bears' "brain trust" will do their analysis and make a yet another horrible decision so making a decision without any analysis is probably better than making a decision on bad analysis.

I'm a Lions fan but first wanted to say you have a good voice and energy for podcasting. As for Ben Johnson, I obviously want him to stay with the Lions so this may sound biased, but objectively speaking I have a tough time seeing him choose the Bears because this division is so tough. Having to play the Lions, Packers, Vikings 6x a year is almost setting yourself up for failure for a first time coach. I think Johnson would be better off going to a team like JAX who also has a good young QB but in a much weaker division. Vrabel would be a great fit for the Bears if they can't get Johnson. He's a lot like Dan Campbell in terms of leadership and has a winning pedigree too.
