The Bears won Super Bowl XX on my 14th birthday. My favorite D-tackle of all time is Steve McMichael, but very close 2nd was Tommy Harris. Mine already listed.. Hampton and Hicks.. Tackling is a big issue with some of Flus’s guys. Though they improved over the last season, still too many with the exception of Sanbourn and Brisker can’t seem to drop guys at the point of contact. Especially against Green Bay they get drug 4 to 7 yards after contact past the first down marker… way too often. It destroys their 3rd down effectiveness in important stops. So it’s great to hear the term ‘tackling machine’.

Randolph and Kromah both have an outside chance of making the final roster. There's open competition for our #4 DT and also competition for our starting DE and both backup DE spots. Both players have promise, so hopefully can keep them on the practice squad if they don't make the final roster.

Randolph will most likely be Bears DT4, but Kromah has a much better chance of earning DE5 if he tries to drop a little weight to increase his speed & athleticism. Bears will keep 5 DE's & 4 DT's on their 53-man roster. Kromah seems like a DeMarcus Walker clone. Walker might also benefit from trying to lose a little weight to increase his speed & athleticism.

Don’t go to sleep on All Pro Dan Hampton who played a lot of DT. Also Mongo was a solid DT that had a penchant for making great plays at great moments. Fridge had a short careen but he was unblockable his first three years in the league. Tommie Harris was great but his knees ket him from having a log career. Hampton had like 13 knee surgeries over his career.

Can someone answer the real question.. How come Poles doesn't value Centers or 3 techs?? Not one above average player in those 2 positions since he's been here. Billings is serviceable but can be moved pretty easy, Dexter & Pickens are still unknowns. Flus didn't give them opportunities even when who they had weren't working & when they were out of the playoff picture. Now Bates is the Center, not his best position combined with a rookie QB is a bad idea. CW needs an experienced IOL/ Center to make the line calls & help identify fronts, blitzes etc. take that off his plate. You want him to be free to learn the playbook, read coverages & just play.
