Got it today works great I use it on my Steamdeck via Bluetooth and once I get a windows pc I’m gonna have the dongle connected so I can just swap between the two

Nice review, I got one recently to upgrade my previous old 8bitdo Ultimate controller, it was already great as it is, but this one comes with many upgrades and fixes over an older models. A couple of advices: you can actually insert a dongle into a charging dock and connect it directly to PC for a better connection and charging at the same time from one USB slot. Elden Ring isn't the best game to test input lag - it has internal 60fps cap that introducing a noticeable input delay by itself, competitive first-person shooters and fighting games with framedata are best to test it 👍

Can’t find a controller that works wireless on the Xbox that is 3rd party. From what I seen if you want to use this controller on Xbox you need it wired to the Xbox it only works wireless on pc.

I switched to this controller at the end of last year after maining Xbox controllers for my PC gaming for the last 13 years. My last 'new' Xbox controller had stick drift just as my years warranty ran out. It was the last straw and I've been very happy with the switch to the 8BitDo Ultimate. The dock is very helpful actually as I rest my controller to charge after every gaming session. The controls and ergonomics of the controller fit my smaller hands very comfortably and feels very similar to the Xbox controller in hand.

​@@davidhughes1275maybe there was an update released, but it's essentially the same controller I have. The 8bitdo Ultimate has hall effect sticks and was released quite awhile ago and was a can run off Bluetooth, wireless and wired.

I was just casually shopping for a replacement for my old xbox controller that would work with a PC in the living room along with Apple TV for gaming with my son. The Ultimate controller lineup is pretty confusing. Is it impossible for them to make an actual Ultimate controller that has three connections modes that work with Xbox, PC, Android, iOS, Switch? Any of those devices in wired, 2.4ghz (assuming a device has a USB-A port), and Bluetooth? Maybe there is some technical reason but they don't do a good job of explaining their lineup on their site.

I have this controller, and there are some things you haven’t mentioned. It does not work with iOS devices in any mode. It does work with Android devices with Bluetooth. The only mode of three that works with Xbox is USB cable. Bluetooth and dongle both do not work for that Xbox console. Steam deck works with all three connection modes.

@@halcyonacoustic7366 how does it come up on PC using the dongle? does come up as a 360 controller, or a Series controller? I'm having a hardtime trying to find this out. Series has 4 buttons in the middle (view, menu, share, home) and the 360 only has 3 (select, back, home).

the charging station works as a usb reciever as well if u put the dongle inside, so no need for that as the connection wia 2.5Ghz is better and faster than bluetooth

So it doesn't work on steamdeck? SteamOS isn't listed as supported but you can connect a xbox s controller via bluetooth so I don't see why you couldn't connect this one the same way?

@@Conan0715 … can’t say for sure, maybe if you found a software that can work with Linux to remap keys and recognise it. The official software is only for windows, iOS and android

@@danielc5647 Yeah, I get that. Too bad it's not working because I'm not spending money on their controllers. They deliberately put huge dead zones on their thumb sticks on the series controller just to try and sell elite controllers. I'm not giving them a dime for another controller.

Correction it only works on IOS on the ultimate software if you wanted one with hall sticks that did work on IOS I would recommend the Pro 2

@@EnriqueCal and the hall effect sticks, point is Xbox has better triggers and D-pad and sticks feel better. 8bitdo might consider lower price more people will go for the Xbox original

@@tairunking187 There is many much cheaper 8bitdo controllers, including Xbox licensed, both wired and wireless, with hall sticks and ALPS. Some can be like $20 on sale. The difference that Microsoft is offering the most basic and cheap controllers for a full price, while 8bitdo has the best one, full of bells and whistles for the same $50-70. P.S. "better triggers, dpad and sticks" is a very doubtful (and personal based) statement, especially from durability standpoint.
