Funny that Dragon fire - 1st it burns the fully armored soldier behind his shiled to ashes in a few seconds, a few seconds later a rider with his horse comes through it without even soot marks. That fire cools pretty fast. Maybe the dragon uses microwaves to produce the heat. The closest men hear 'cling!' before they burn to ashes.

@@bloodwynn Well, the 1st seasons tried fish views with nudity (the prostitutes etc.) - but that calmed down to a more thought through effect, which was more bound to the plot - which works without turning cheap. But I agree that season 8 was a dragonsize belly flop

I prefer how the books describe it. The books describe it as being almost oil like, so I always pictured something like napalm or keroscene. But it also leaves it ambiguous weather it’s biology or magic.

But I still think the horses come through too soon after the soldiers were lit. The temperature should be 1000s of drgrees. Ambiguous serves well in fantasy - we buy it easier :)

Noticed the commentary about light cavalry. Normal formations yes. But the Huns and Avars showed that overwhelming force of such light cavalry takes losses and wins anyway. Especially on potentially boggy ground like the Riverlands (As told by history) where minimal weight matters where heavier fighters (Even knights) suffer a disadvantage. Not as lopsided a view as you think. It's the advantage you use that wins. Especially with a dragon on your side...

Seriously, I really thought the Lannister Army would have broken that Dothraki charge if not for the dragon. I don't think that the Lannisters are the most hardy bunch among the Westeros armies... BUT I have never seen any Dothraki horde charge at a well-equipped formation, and survive. The light cavalry is a harassing unit meant to disorient the opposing army... and this Dothraki cavalry is basically a marauding band that just happens to number in the thousands. Why GRR Martin built up the Dothraki as the deadliest fighting force boggles me no end.

@ The Mongols were so effective because they also included siege engines and a small cadre of heavy cavalry in their armies.

The Lannisters have heavy infartry, the light cavarly can doo nothing to the infartry with spears and shields, its a little buff to a Dothrakhi and their curved blades, these tipe of blades can doo nothing too armor even leather armor is too thick to a sabre or this kind of stupid curved blade. Nice and epic battle anyways :)
