BEAST WARS "Transmetal 2 Blackarachnia"

Depth Charge scans the driver, and finds that it's a device of alien nature that has been altered by Megatron. He decides to destroy the device by tossing it into some lava, but once Depth Charge's back is turned, Blackarachnia catches the device before it is immolated. Blackarachnia is setting up some equipment that will convert her into a Transmetal 2. However, Silverbolt detects Blackarachnia's energy signature, and, not understanding, pulls her from the machine. As Blackarachnia berates Silverbolt, she short circuits. Heading to the Maximal base, Rhinox concludes that the shell program is starting to degrade, and will erase her core consciousness if not treated soon. They begin the shell removal, but it has safe guards that will destroy Blackarachnia's core consciousness. Rhinox is able to destroy the first one. At his lair, Tarantulas discovers the removal process. He contacts Megatron, informing him of the situation. Inferno, Rampage, and Quickstrike are sent under Tarantulas to attack the Maximals. Rhinox is almost finished, but two more power surges head for her core consciousness. Rhinox blasts one, but Tarantulas fires a rocket which causes Rhinox to miss the other surge, which hits Blackarachnia's core consciousness and extinguishes her spark. The Transmetal driver begins to glow over Blackarachia. Preparing to strike the killing blow, Rampage is stopped-by Blackarachnia, now a Transmetal 2. Blackarachnia quickly defeats Rampage.

People talking about the animation aging poorly - keep in mind that this show is one of the first fully CGI shows to hit television. The people who worked on it also worked on Reboot and a lot of the software they used to make that show they basically invented as they were creating it. What you are seeing is the very best of what they could create with what they had (which, again, was stuff that some of these creators invented themselves) and also what their budgets would allow.

@@Kurotama11 it does negate it quite a bit. because almost everyone who say's this animation aged poorly are basing that (IMO, unfair) view on standards of good animation **today** when that was the best animation possible (for a weekly tv series) for it's era. Of course it's not gonna hold up to what animators can do today - why would it? It's nearly 30 years old. But that doesn't mean it "aged poorly". Better technology evolved to make better stuff (which, incidentally, the creators of this show paved the way for) and this show simply... "aged". That's my take anyways ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ take it or leave it!

G1 fans will hate me, but I saw G1 show when I was 10, rewatching G1 in my late teens, I thought G1's story, inconsistency, lots of plot holes, and lack of cohesion made felt it was a child's show, and it was, tell that to G1 fans, I am a fan of G1 because of nostalgia, but I can judge G1 objectively as an adult, and I saw Beastwars when I was also in my late teens. The story is more cohesive, the comedy was funny, really lovable characters like Rat trap with his wit, and Waspinator with his bumbling clown persona. The love story between Blackarachnia and Silverbolt was an interesting depiction of Romeo and Juliet. Even Megatron had that Dr Evil vibe. The voice acting was top notch. It did not make fun of itself. This show truly is a Transformers masterpiece of a show. You watch this show for the upper mentioned reasons, and not for the graphics.

My Question is: Why was there never a beast wars episode, where a human was scanned by a stasis pod? As In: A human helping the Autobots, gets fataly injured. There is no cure for the demise of this person. So they grab a dormant stasis pod and place it in the same room as the dying human. Just before the human dies, they activate the stasis pod and voila. A Human Transformer with a beast mode of a human and robot mode of a tranformer super human. Any ideas?

@@G1ingy Tigerhawk was (partially) justified cuz he is Vok's experiment, and the Vok are aliens basically The thing I hate the most is the fact that Tigerhawk just die 2 episodes later his debut I think Blackaracnia Transmetal is unfairly underrated, she is not that bad in comparison with others characters and/or variants Ex: Cheetor Transmetal 2, I hate it. This upgrade came out from the blue, became irrelevant after his debut, don't grant him new abilities and don't fit with his heroic role at all, look more like a Evil Counterpart than a Cheetor's upgrade Or Quickstrike, flat character, no development, he is technically still a Maximals but act as a Predacons despite No one reprogram him when he was in the cell so he is evil for no reason, it was stupid (unlike Waspinator, Quick was not funny) and his design is not threating either, just a colorful short guy with the worst hands's design (as mechanical scorpion's design Scorponok got the best design for this species)

The full definition of the difference between Transmetal 1 and Transmetal 2 is discussed and described on the Transmetal 2 page on the Transformers Wiki site. The original transformer body is Transmetal 1 the advanced form/body of Primal, Blackaracnia, Cheetor and Dinobot that they had from upgrade from the Transmetal driver is Transmetal 2.

@@katnguyen9746 This series was rendered for 320 x 280 (I believe the native resolution of a CRT tv; the 3d technology they used during this time was extremely premitive, but as you see very effective, and 24 years 3d technology enhancements, they can do so much to this it will feel like a new show. 4k textures, ray tracing, high resolution anti-aliasing. Have you ever heard of Crisis the game remastering? They didn't do much for the remaster because the game could scale higher, but things they did was enough for the game to feel fresh. Heck a simple AI upscale would do wonders.

A remake will not have the same impact, it won't be as well written, definitely wouldn't be voiced nearly as well, would be incredibly soft and forced comedy that wouldn't land. This was perfectly fine for what was given, it's a time capsule of a simpler time and how impressive things were at the time. Rebooting or remaking it would just cause the reboot to be a catastrophic failure and fall into the background. We'd end up with something like Beast Wars GO!, which is what happened to Teen Titans and rhar was abysmal

Gotta be honest I never liked either design for Blackarachnia in Beast Wars. The original design looked too freaky with the black, soulless eyes and that weird edging around the mouth like she's wearing a mask. The Transmetal 2 looked a lot better, but again, the head sculpt could've done with a bit more work. Mainly, lose the weird "hair/horns" on the sides. Personally, I loved her Technorganic design in Beast Machines much more.

I’ve always been confused by something: at 0:18 it looks like she’s facing Depth Charge. Meaning we can see the top of her head/her eyes. Yet, in the next frame, he walks towards her position and past her out of the cave, and she’s again, facing toward him without her turning around. So at 0:19 are we seeing her underside and it just LOOKS like she’s facing him (as she’s far away) or is it a blooper? It’s driving me nuts because I can’t tell which way she’s facing so far away and the way her legs move make it hard to tell.

Only reason she skipped directly to Transmetal 2 is because unlike the other Transmetal 1s, she ain't got a "vehicle mode". Similarly, Optimal Optimus is probably the last of the Transmetal 1 types, simply because he's got two vehicle modes in addition to robot and beast. (Makes that convention exclusive Transmetal 2 Megatron that's a repaint of RiD01 Megatron/Galvatron all the more baffling)
