The problem is the infested terran A.I. / pathing sucks. Sounds like a great idea until they're dropped, end up targeting something far away randomly, get killed along the way, and then don't do any damage as they only do damage if they hit their intended target (unlike banelings in SC2).

when the queens infested the command center it was already in the air, and it needs to land creep. once the infested command center is in the air it can't land on normal terrain.

I love how Beast played early on. It's like how I would played zerg in BW 10-13 years ago. However later game keeping with hydras without getting more queens seemed absolutely idiotic if you ask me. I would have gone for like ultra-hydra with zergling drop or something.

There is a castle building technique called Eye of the Needle, and it is basically forcing your enemy to go through a tight area, while being fired upon. And possibly being zig-zagged through barriers. So, it purposefully leaves the front door open, but to go through the door, you must go through heavy fire. If it is done right no enemy units will survive.

Infesting Flash’s Command Center above all other players is hilarious. I would do this thing against my friend where I’d have a few pairs of scourge and queen hidden over a cliff and send my zerglings to attack his command center and he’d lift it then I’d swoop in and knock it’s health down and stealth it lmao

Iurii Katkov they deal 110 damage so at least 7 in order to take its health below half. Less if it already has damage done to it. It’s not they best strategy, kinda amateur but its funny. Scourge cost a lot of gas, 4 pairs is 100 minerals and 300 gas. Not a good trade for a 400 min command center, although you will quickly stop mining from the base. That’s why using scourge alone to take out capital ships is not generally a good trade. It’s just a fun way to mess with your friend and an even more fun thing to do is drop infested Terran into their base lmao

Those neutral units or buildings on some maps keep getting me confused. I was startled for a moment at suddenly seeing a Zerg egg on the right of Flash's base at the beginning. And I had NO IDEA you could infest Command Centers while they were flying!

Infested terrans requires a terran ally who can use the science vessel defense matrix on them. I remember using this strategy way back in 1999 with a friend of mine we called it "invincible bombers". Terran and Zerg 2v2 and you infest your ally's command center. It was not practical but man was it ever fun!

Would love to see the replay with your son. I bet it would be fun to cast and watch. I was thinking the same thing as you before you did your post game analysis. Beast seemed to have the upper hand after killing Flashs 3rd, before his big drop. He had map control. In retrospect might have made more sense for Beast to keep macroing, expanding and move into defiler tech. Then again, no one wants to face Flashs late game tank push and defilers are much more effective against bio than tanks. Maybe ultras would have worked with what would have been a superior economy. Aside from 2 small vulture skirmishes, Flash never went aggressive towards Beast. He just defend his way into a winning position. Using floating buildings to save his tanks from spawn broodlings possibly won him the game since Beast got close to breaking him on that push. Also infesting the CC's is just a faster way of killing them than actually killing them which is interesting. It's all the small things that happened in this match that made it really interesting to watch.

One of my obserwation is... maps are diffirent. In SC2 it's really same map over and over again with diffirent gimicks, visuals and positioning ...but still same thin corridors, ramps and overall thin labirynth each time. In SC1 maps l;ack gimmicks but are more open and in comparison to units size much larger...if i remember SC2 had few large maps in times of WoL but those ware removed from map pool. Maps, pathfiding and selected unit limit gameplay made SC1 tactical army tangodance while SC2 streamlining devolved to death balls steamrollers. There is also many other things, sounds and more "mature" and "realistic" approach to models, in SC2 all units proportions look like toys, metal looks like plastic, zerg flesh like plasteline and protoss crystal gold more like fantasy elves ...WarCraft in one word - not same climate of space rangers vs gore horror vs ancient mystery. I like both, and i learn to appriciate what SC2 improved and did right, i just don't appriciate it was forced and good things ware removed. Some things though, like replacing firebats with transformers...yuck! They are in the fucking game, just removed from multi... WTF! Why not give players and Turnament organizators a fucking choice?

For a moment there I thought the drop tech was going to be used for infested terran drops. I don't see how this is not a good strat; three of them (300 minerals, 150 gas in all) or two and a queen take out a command center (this does demand impeccable micro). With a diversionary push, he could've just eliminated Flash's economy outright.

Hydras are my least favorite Zerg unit, maybe least favorite unit. I only build them for lurkers generally but I prefer mass mutas and greater spire units with a split army of cracklings with queens and devourers. That’s a fun build I love Zerg Air control lol

weird, they are probably the easiest ground unit in the game to control once they get their range and speed upgrades they don't trade too efficiently against most heavies without something to screen for them but that's what zerglings are for and hydras kill literally any target in the game effectively if it's not killing them even faster, they can even just fight the interceptors vs carriers and be efficient! just think of them as heavy duty marines with way less population to gum up your controls. medics and hydras are absolutely terrifying in team games...really just medics and zerg in general, they can even make ultralisks cost-efficient.

Evernewb I know it’s weird haha I just never have luck with them and tanks and storm shred them hard. Rather hit carriers with plague/ensnare/devourers/scourge. I know they’re good just never had luck Or maybe the skill hah
