That building, Wayne Messier the Anthem and Frank Pellico. The memories of being there are cherished, NEVER will there be another Chicago Stadium. Also look up the '91-'92 all-star game at the stadium. Was fortunate to be there, the Anthem before the game you couldn't describe, unreal and mind blowing.

I wasn’t born when that stadium was still around (if I was, I wouldn’t be my current age), but I do love hearing certain nostalgic memories from people, who were around, when it was there, as well as the old White Sox park (aka, “Old Comiskey”), though.

How my beloved Hawks ever lost a game in that incredible building in front of those insanely enthusiastic fans is beyond me. I've been to a lot of sporting events and seeing a Hawks game at the original and only true "Madhouse on Madison" was beyond belief. I'll cherish the memories and that atmosphere forever.

Original 6 rinks all wonderfully different. Was fortunate to have seen games in all of them. Even the ice surfaces were different!

@@davidrohlfing9055 - Before the 1967 NHL expansion Toronto (Maple Leafs Gardens) Montreal (Forum) and Detroit (Olympia) rinks were 200 feet X 85 feet. The other three were as followed: Boston Garden 191 x 83 Madison Square Garden 190 x 85 Chicago Stadium 185 x 85 The current Madison Square Garden opened in 1968 and the rink is 200 x 85 as are all NHL rinks today.

I was at that old Chicago Stadium, twice. That crowd noise before the game during the anthems ran right down your spine. That huge pipe organ was a sight to see. My brother and I asked if we could go up to the organ loft and got some pictures.
@beast19608 ай бұрын
@@ALLANBINSLEY It was unreal, especially the Canadian teams were in town. You could hear a pin drop during Canadian Anthem and the first note of national anthem, as the old slogan went, you could feel the noise.

My younger brother was a Blackhawks fan and we heard so much about Chicago Stadium, so we went there Canada Thanksgiving weekend in October one year. That anthem ritual goes right through your entire body. We asked if we could go up to the organ loft after the game. Wow, that organ was huge and amazing.
@beast196015 күн бұрын
First game I went to after the ritual started was against the Vancouver Canucks and I was asked by someone next to me if I had been a part of the ritual and I said no, and he said "you're in for a treat." The Canadian National Anthem with Wayne Messmer and Nancy Faust went on and you could hear a pin drop. Then as he was looking to see my reaction, the first note of the National Anthem started and the place went berserk and you could feel the noise and the place shake. Unreal experience.

was that little siren noise common at Chicago stadium prior to the game, I never remember hearing it when I was there it was at 0:41 in the video... Any comments is appreciated.
@beast19603 жыл бұрын
That siren was the actual horn that went off at the end of the period.
@GeoHoleNoNe3 жыл бұрын
Yes. Digital horns started coming out early 90s…. Which this was the old stadium so it was an air horn … just like the organs horns.

I think the Bruins/Habs are the only teams left to have a siren to signal the end of periods/timeouts

@@pilotcb2 Yes they are. It’s a shame the Hawks don’t go back to that, but the Wirtz’s were never good at preserving history.
@OldRustySteele Жыл бұрын
Oddly enough, back when Chicago Stadium had the ancient scoreboard with clock hands rather than a digital timer, a conventional horn signaled the end of the period. When they installed the newest scoreboard in the mid ‘80’s, it had a siren, much like they used at Montreal Forum and Boston Garden.
