Jimmy is Michael's son. In starting, it was assumed that Michael was shot dead by the cops and the other guy ran away. But in fact, Michael was staring at his own graveyard, so he is alive. U do not need to know how he is alive at this moment. Michael then left all the gangster shit and started to live a normal life sith his family.
