The guys do not give themselves enough credit for this masterpiece. For them to put this together as their follow-up to Licence to Ill is more than remarkable. The Abbey Road of hip-hop

I came across the album on a random blank cassette among my dads music. I had to have been around 10 years old. At the time I didn't realize the impact of it and had no knowledge of what sampling was. I just knew it was good music. And even today, nothing can touch it

It's awesome they hooked him up with that jacket, seems most people would rather laugh at someone than help them. We can only do what we can and try to lead by example if one has it to give wether it be time / food e.t.c.

HEARD OF THE BEASTIE BOYS????" it was so quick I yelled yes! as I had seen 'Fight for youur right' on the telly, this was on B455 nr the corner of matlock lane by Ealing Green W5, london.

Paul's came out and landed with a thud, the music rags trashed it. No one understood it or even gave it a chance. Fast fwd 4 or 5 years, I'm a freshman at college and in the crazy mysterious stoner's room 1 flight up in my dorm. Black light and incense. He slips on the tape and tells me "this album has all you need to know, listen to it." Spooked, I did and have never been the same since. Perfect album. Best album by any band, ever. I can still listen to the whole thing all the way through and feel disappointed that it's ended too quickly.

Actually most contemporary music critic reviews good to ecstatic. Negatitve reviews were from “… certain mid-market newspapers and some sections of the rap media” … “forming a curious alliance against the album.

Paul's Boutique was severely underrated. But one of my favorite line's is from pass the mic.this still rings true today. Well, everybody's rapping like it's a commercial Actin' like life is a big commercial So this is what I've got to say to you all Be true to yourself and you will never fall.

100% gold for sure, rest well Adam Yauch there will be no other not even close. You know a record is good when you carry $25 in AAs (90s usd $) to reup the tape player 2x AA gets you about 2 songs at -20⁰f lol. Batteries got better at room temperature but yeah up north life. Those songs made that crappy bus ride & walk to work so much less miserable and me look a little crazy probably, totally worth it. Where's Nathaniel though probably couldn't make it put the wrong mushrooms on the spaghetti again?

Seems like this album holds up!...Classic....Is so free...Prior 2 all the sample lawsuits! ...I think sampling is painting your own picture and you should be able to paint WTF u want!....Yes the artist you sample from should get credit and maybe a Q point ....There is no limit 2 Music when we can all sample our own take on things! ....Generations can learn from one another also....It benefits both artist !!! Artist people never heard of could be turned on by samples ...Its like advertisement for throwback artists!

Got this album on cassette in 1998 heading into college. Had no idea about the album. No idea of the cult love or anything. I didn't have cable tv as a kid nor did we have internet. I heard the song hey ladies on the local NYC rock station or 89.5 WSOU and somehow was able to find out what album it was on and so glad I did. That whole college year I walked around with this album in my walkman and I remember having Houses of the Holy by Led Zep on cassette too.
