I don't know if this was said already, but Castform is considered a size 4 Pokémon like most giant Pokémon (i.e. Onix, Dialga, etc.) and you can only have a maximum party size of 6. To add Castform to your party, you'll have to do a party of three. As for why Castform's a size 4? It's one of mystery dungeon's greatest mysteries.

Size, AFAIK, likely has to do with how many Sprites/Tiles the Pokemon needs. Castform has 4 forms (Normal, Hail, Rainy, & Sunny.) so it's Size 4. Similarly, Cherrim is Size 2 because it an Overcast form & a Sunny form. Strangely, Shaymin is a Size 1 despite having a Land Forme & a Sky Forme. Dragonite is Size 1 because only 1 form. & of course, Pokemon with really big sprites like Onix & Giratina get like, Size 4. I suspect it's to prevent softlocks/crashes; If too many of the limited resources to show sprites are used, important stuff like for cutscenes might not work.

Devon not working is prob bc he’s an alternate form, normally a castform would revert to base form after a dungeon if the last floor had weather. So the game doesn’t know how to handle him. In another gen 4 spin-off game, Pokémon rumble, alternate form Pokémon can only be recruited from codes/tickets; trying to have them spawn in a level causes the game to crash.

Here's why you can't add Castform to your team: Each Pokemon in Mystery Dungeon has a "size" rating on a metric of four stars, one being the smallest size and four being the largest. The vast majority of Pokemon are rated at a one star size, but some Pokemon like Lapras, Salamence, and certain Legendary trios are rated at two stars, while obvious behemoths like Gyarados (hence why Leviathon forced you to return two members instead of one), Wailord, and the boxart big boys are rated at four stars (no three stars, which I find weird). This matters because your party of four is not allowed to surpass a collective total of six stars, so a four star Pokemon cannot appear on a team that already has a four star Pokemon, which would amount to at least eight stars, or a team with more than three members already, which would amount to at least seven stars. What does this have to do with Castform? Well, for reasons I do not fully understand (so I'll need help filling in the gaps here), in Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky, and ONLY these games, Castform has a size of four stars. In Red/Blue Rescue Team they only have one star, and as far as I can tell it's the same deal with Gates To Infinity and Super, so in specifically the gen IV Mystery Dungeon games, Castform was considered a large Pokemon. The only explanation I can find as to why is that there were gameplay concerns involved with Castform, either for team balancing or potentially something on the technical side, but I don't know what. Edit: This may also explain why Castform was rerolled in the "Grandmaster" fight. It may have been too much for the game to leave it as such for this particular encounter.

When entering a monster house, I recommend taking a step back so you're both in the corridor. This forces the opponents to fight you 1 on 1. Also if you're fighting a Pokémon in a room and you're one step ahead of your ally, take a diagonal step back. This means you'll be next to your ally and the opponent will walk towards you so you both can take it on at once.

Cinder, the shiny Cyndaquil, was the very first legitimate shiny I ever had to my name, ever (though shiny chance in PP was 1/100 as alternate sprites called Auras were much rarer) It's almost like Cinder was reborn here, years after PP got taken down

So for all of the people who are wondering why Castform is the same size capacity of Pokemon like Dialga, it's a balancing thing. Long story short, Castform was extremely powerful in PMD RB. Use one weather move and you basically have a 100% accurate extremely powerful and extremely powerful AOE. Not to mention that Weather Ball becomes extremely powerful

The reason Devon wouldn't join the team is because its a size 4 pokemon. In explorers of sky, you are only able to take a team with a maximum body size of 6 into a dungeon. Most pokemon just have a body size of one, but there's some pokemon such as the legendaries and cast form that have a body size of 4. I think this was done for balancing purposes so you couldn't have dialga and palkia on the team at the same time (which is sad). For some reason they did it to cast form as well due to having different forms.

The randomizer patches a rom, so if you've got a flashcard it probably works on a ds. Otherwise, you can play it on a ds emulator on your computer (I recommend the MelonDS emulator, if you choose to play on pc)

The reason you can’t bring Castform is because he has a size of 2, so you need 2 empty slots. It’s the same as Gyarados. Castform was *really* strong in Rescue Team game, so he got nerfed in Explorers.
