I know very little much about 'animal resource' finds. Interesting summary but I am finding it hard to comprehend the context. Could you recommend other studies from this period of history (apart from West Stow), so to give me a fuller understanding. Thankyou.

Charlotte mentions a few contemporary sites, for example Lyminge in Kent is another Anglo-Saxon central place, their website has lots of resources www.lymingearchaeology.org/ and the animal bone assessment is on their publications page. Historic England also have published research on the animal remains of southern Britain which may be useful: research.historicengland.org.uk/Report.aspx?i=15561
