@@ace7765 Basically hot takes about the state of the current pro competitive scene. It's all in good fun, but Beasty has frequently been considered either the second-best or best player in AoE4 since the game released, usually trading places with Marinelord. Vortix and Lucifron have also been considered to be in the conversation for the best in the world, at times besting Beasty and Marinelord in top-tier tournaments. Wam and Puppypaw have beaten all of the above in tournament play in 2024, specifically beating Beasty, Lucifron, and Vortix during Red Bull Wololo qualifiers two months ago. So, the argument could be made that they have surpassed Beasty, but Beasty more recently crushed both of them in King of Dry Arabia, so it remains to be seen whether they can continue to consistently win tournament series against Beasty, which most people would agree would be necessary to subjectively rate either of them as being better AoE4 players than Beasty. Same basically goes for Anotand, who has been really exciting and competitive but hasn't put up that many consistent tournament results yet. So, Don Artie's subjective remarks break with general consensus, and there hasn't yet been consistent evidence to back up his take. tl;dr Anotand, Puppypaw, and Wam need to have more consistent tournament results to be considered by consensus to be better than Beasty, but all the hot takes should be taken as just fun banter.

I understand the appeal of placing a free keep on a large gold vein, but doesn't the bonus of stealth and the first strike bonus that comes with stealth make it more beneficial to put the fortress somewhere central, for your units to walk past more often?

youtube says the vid is 1 hour old, 542 views. Pretty good really. I started on AoE1 on AOL Dialup. At work. The boss' son would be upstairs ... we'd play each other over dialup haah. He was 12. AOE2 we did games aganist online players, we had some 6 hour games. Lots of them. AOE3 cqame out and sorta ruined it for us. Just downloaded AOE4 off Steam, it wont run on my Windows 7 !!!! dang it

It should also be pointed out that puppypaw and his brother hard wire share their screens with each other (so there is no lag or delay). The one not playing watches the map and warns the other of raids, which frees up the one playing to focus more on micro. That's why their reaction times are so much worse when they play each other or don't play at home.
