what is happening right now? good question. being the first Zelda title that included a true system for tracking elevation, the Z coordinate calculations are a little weird: it's not a continuous axis, it's a layer system. the game just assigns everything a numerical value of 1 for the ground or 2 for the elevated platform. these values determine what tiles are passable and what enemies can be attacked to simulate the actual consequences of being higher or lower than other objects. by jumping off the ledge and stopping the game mid-air, you confuse this simple elevation system. it no longer knows what elevation you should be on, and this property carries over as you start the file back up. when you take damage, the game tries to correct your elevation, which is what makes the wall clip possible. from there, it's a matter of understanding that every single indoor screen in the game is stitched together in one big map. this is because it makes it much easier for the programmer to create loading zones to indoor areas. just specify the coordinates on the big map of where this zone should go, and you're golden. this means wall clipped Link can just run around this entire map free of restrictions, and there just happens to be a very short path to the endgame boss fight. there are some minor consequences, though. because you never finished the first run through of Hyrule Castle, the rain effect on the Overworld is never triggered to end, and you have to endure the constant sound of rain as well as broken graphics during the end cutscene and credits. by popular demand, the tl;dr: the game tracks your elevation with a simple variable. you can break that tracker by quitting mid-air. then you can abuse the stored broken value to wall clip and walk through the map of indoor screens straight to the end

No, because "beating a game" technically in this case only involves getting to the end screen, whereas in more modern games beating the game requires a certainly level of completion, more akin to your comparison to movies, where you must watch the whole thing to say you have watched it.
@Hero_of_Legend2 жыл бұрын
@@bees8390 I know of not many games where one can accurately claim to have "beaten" a game without a certain level of completionism. In fact, in specific relation to Zelda, most fans agree the game isn't "truly beaten" without 100% of chests opened, dungeon rooms visited ( including optional ), all heart pieces collected, all optional items obtained, and all sidequests completed. That was one of the little things that happens, one of the developer as so many games rewrote it to have several glitches.

As a reminder, A Link to the Past ends with Gannon being erased from existence going forward by the triforce. Meaning it is the LAST game where you fight him that didn't happen before A Link to the Past. Likewise only the original Legend of Zelda has two Tri forces, meaning it was the first. Likewise the first game with Three Triforces is its sequel The Adventures of Link.

3 hearts and walks passed. ”Beat the game” This is the best example of modern folks wondering why life didn’t work out.

I’m impressed the digital copy has the emulation so accurate that a zip still works…

Never played a LOZ game in my life until I played OOT on my brothers N64 when I was a teenager. Game blew me away with how fun it was. After I beat it I was saddened it was over . My brother hooked up the SNES in my room and gave me A link to the past. Hard at parts but had a great time with it. After that I jumped down the LOZ rabbit hole playing the gameboy games like oracle of seasons. Good times.

It actually makes sense for a hero of time to also be able to master the space.
