Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I have extensor tendonitis and was diagnosed a year ago by a Podiatrist. He only told me to do calve exercises and gave me a steroid injection which didn't provide much relief. I've subsequently developed pretty intense pain in the great toe of that same foot. An EMG of that lfoot/leg was negative, and after an MRI , Xray and 4 months of Gabapentine I am still where I was when I started. I've stopped the Gapapentine as it did not help and I had terrible side effects. I will give your recommendations a try. Thank you again.

This video gave me some hope. I am new to Extensor Tendonitis . It got painful and then it got better so I went back to walking but BAM , it came back and worse. Now it has been almost two weeks of pain 24/7. Ice helps, and binding it helps. I think it started with my toes which seem to be curling to grab the ground , maybe to balance some other weakness in the ankle. My question: how long does the acute phase of tendonitis last? How can I calm it down when there is always a little weight on it, just walking around the house. Thank you so much for the informative video!

Getting frustrated with extensor tendonitis. I have lost 5 stone and has definatley improved, still teying to loose more but everytime i try and push myself it keeps cropping back up, went for a 5 mile walk/run today and about a mile from home it started again, i put some ice on it for 20 mins, put my moon boot on to stabalize it and took a naproxen (anti inflamtory) really hoping it goes by tomorrow so i can get back to working out. The stretches you show, is that something i should do before a workout or just incorporate into my life everyday? I have a massage gun so will try doing that on my shins, i just really hope the more weight i loose. The less it happens as there are some big 50km plus walks etc i want to accomplish, it just feels like the tendonitis is stopping me progressing as far as i would like

@@hikinguphigh you will def get there. Sounds like you are doing an amazing job with the weight. Brilliant that will help but make sure you address the ankle as a whole. Check out your ankle as a whole. Make sure you have the right movement and correct any imbalances! Love your targets, you will get there

Before watching this video, I was thinking my symptoms had something to do with the cuboid bones, but this extensor tendinitis makes a lot more sense. I definitely have reduced dorsiflexion on the left where the symptoms are.

Thank you - I think I have this condition (had it for over 16 months) but has been wrongly diagnosed as metatarsalgia. Just tried those stretching muscles and very tight. I have a massage gun, should I use that on shin muscle or top of foot?
@JonWSportsInjury
@JonWSportsInjury 2 ай бұрын
I would certainly use on the shin area. On top of the foot maybe a little sore, I would use your hands to the massage the top of the foot. Hope that helps

I’m beginning to learn about the pain in my foot. I’ve come to the conclusion that Extensor Tinnitus is what I’m experiencing. The only thing I’m not understanding is the pain in the ball of my foot. It’s very painful after over use… lots of standing, walking, running. Is this also common? It honestly feels like my foot is cracked at the top of my foot and the ball of the foot has nearly equal pain 😢

@@palmsquad4 it is common to have that pain. Sounds like plantar fasciitis as well. I have a few vids on my channel on that condition that may help

This video was very enlightening, if a little bit of a bummer, as a lot of this info suggests I’m going to really struggle to fix my own pain. I’m not a runner or an athlete, though I do strength training and cardio at the gym twice a week. However, I’m disabled (multiple sclerosis) and on crutches, and I’ve had bad extensor tendinitis in both feet for over a year. It’s making it very painful to walk and increasing my falls. Though my dorsiflexion is good, my balance is terrible, I have no proprioception, I put very weird stress on my feet by landing on the wrong bits of them, sometimes I drag them, sometimes they turn inwards, it’s just all messed up lol 😂 My main issue I think is that I can’t rest them. I live alone, I don’t drive, I volunteer with multiple organisations, and I literally don’t sit down during the day, I don’t watch TV or use a sofa, there’s just no time in the day, and if I sit down I have terrible spasms when I get up anyway 🤷‍♀️ I even eat stood up at the kitchen counter; I’m so shaky and unbalanced that I couldn’t carry it anywhere anyway. If ET can come from other areas of the ankle and leg, I’m not sure how I can tackle all of the deficits which could potentially be contributing, since they’re neurological.

@@trala8911 thank you for your comment! I think that when it comes to balance work it is a very slow and steady approach. If may take time but keep the faith it sounds like you are doing great things so keep up the good work. Have tried self massage in the area or even ice to help settle the symptoms whilst you build your strength

Would this condition affect the backside of the foot (underside) as well as the top? Both the top and bottom of where the pinky bone/tendon is hurts.
@JonWSportsInjury
@JonWSportsInjury Ай бұрын
@@MarinaErika technically speaking this is the top of the foot but it is common to suffer other conditions at the same time such as plantar fasciitis on the underside of the foot

Hi, glad i found your video! I was thinking i had Morton Neuroma but know I'm pretty sure it's Tendonitis. It's only in my right foot and the pain level is about 3 sometimes higher...Question, I'm checking my ankle strength and it hurts to squat on my right side just below the knee. Left side is fine. So I think I might have found the root cause of my foot problem. I'll keep trying to get my ankle strength up but SLOWLY! LOL My Orthopedic Dr said "if it hurts stop doing it!"

That was a smashing video. I'm having trouble on and off for a few years with foot pain. I had myself terrified I have arthurits or something, but I'm hoping it's something simple like this. After watching this video, my thoughts are that my right left is externally rotated out from driving for years, and maybe that's the cause. Anyway, thanks for the video. Very well presented and informative.
