This, for me, is a terribly over-bizzy version of a King Crimson masterwork. It’s hard to argue with Steve Vai’s additions but Danny is in way over his head. The piece loses so much overplayed. It is symphonic writing for a small ensemble and Danny is playing something else entirely. A bit of a show-off part. Disappointed.

@ Sorry, that’s not at all true nor is it even essential. Bill Bruford’s playing is clean and unadorned. Danny seems like a great guy but he’s not even in the same league. I’m sure he’s trying and the band is grateful to have him but there’s so much off-time playing it’s hard for my band-centric ears to take. Bill sets an untouchably high bar.

I respect your opinions sir. What about Vai? I love what he does with Fripps parts and I believe this is the best KC available currently touring.

@ We are lucky to have Beat playing the music of our youths or however this relates to you. Everyone’s doing a great job except guess who. I’m not here to hurt feelings or make anyone angry. I just know this music like the back of my hand, every nuance is stuck in my head forever. Red was an astounding record when it came out. I’ll never forget the impression it made on me. A band can never be better than its drummer.
