I've learned after playing a map with a similar mechanic that the places with the notes of the same color in a similar direction (like two red arrows pointing up at different places) mean that you are supposed to hold the saber flat in front of you and move the entire thing in that direction instead of swinging like normal. It's rather difficult to do to maximize score (and I can see that there's an even harder example in this song than what I did), but it's unintuitive enough that I thought I'd let you know what I'd found.
