Beat the Clock - Education expands opportunities in Tanzania

Our Keeping Adolescent Girls in School project in Tanzania is helping girls and young women stay in school by strengthening their ability to exercise their rights and providing communities with practical support. Together, we will Beat the Clock.
Magreth, 27, is a medical doctor and is studying for her masters degree in public health. A former Plan International sponsored child, she is passionate about public health and gender advocacy and often engages in girls' empowerment campaigns to create awareness about the harmful practices that hold girls back.
"I was born in a community with a lot of disparaging norms for girls, early pregnancies and marriages. So I like to create awareness against these so that I can empower the younger girls to reach for their full potential," explains Magreth. "I always feel like I have to empower other young girls because I was once empowered, so I think I have that responsibility to do the same to the younger generation."
