​@@benrogers8684 Better way to think of it. It is 500 babies of any unit, to get a 3*, minimum, copy of any unit, while still making progression on the units all those babies were from. You're still making a ton of progress considering before you needed 1000 of any one unit's baby form to get the same reward and it would only go towards that one unit

I spent about 15 minutes doing the math to calculate the exact rates of buying star chests compared to buying chest tickets and evolving units to see which is better, but it didn't save because youtube sucks. Anyway here is the TL;DR. Every 10 chest tickets has a guaranteed four star unit, and the other 9 chests have a three star unit. One four star unit is worth 10 three star units. Therefore in 10 chests you get an average of 19 three star units, and in one chest you average 1.9 three star units, the equivalent of 190 babies. A star chest costs 150,000 coins so you spend about 790 coins per baby. Chest tickets give you an average of 7 units for 2000 coins. This means about 285 coins per baby. Using 150,000 coins worth of chest tickets gets you more units, but not only that you get on average 525 baby units. From evolving them from baby to classic you get 520 star tokens, and classic to super you get another 100. This means from the chest tickets you also get 620 star tokens (about 1.2 star chests) on top of all the baby units. This means you get more star chests per coin if you buy chest tickets instead of star chests. TL;DR buying star chests with coins is the biggest scam out there.

There are some things I will say that add some additional context. A) the 525 units you get from chest tickets are spread across a bunch of different units, so you won't get all those star tokens from evolving them immediately. B) my math did not account for the chance of getting a four or five star unit outside of when they are guaranteed. Whereas I think this is a fair thing to look at, even if you were guaranteed a 5 star drop every time, you still get more star chests by spending your coins on chest tickets rather than buying them directly. C) This math is assuming you are getting mostly top 3 placements with a high winstreak. For many players this isn't a realistic expectation, however I still think that chest tickets are better. As a matter of fact, buying common units from the shop is a better purchase than starting chests. 10 baby units is worth 8000 coins, and gives you 3,000 coins worth of star tokens. So removing the star token value you get from evolving, you are basically paying 5,000 coins for 10 babies, with an average cost of 500 coins per unit. TL;DR for C. It's even better to buy common shop units than it is to buy star chests.

​@@nicjoy4407I've done the same Math when the update hit Monday, and yes. Similar conclusion, except I averages 5 Unit per Chest. Also I assumed you gain PE playing and advance in Journey so more troops, I assumed a 1.3 to 1.5 ST per BABY if you play your SC. Overall there's a huge advantage going up to 6x the value and less around 3x if the guy buying with Coins finds many Ultimates / Ultra. The biggest saving is in time of course. Someone who doesn't play a lot will play 10 - 15 games a day so will probably take around 30 days or more to open a SC meaning almost a Year for a guaranteed Ultra / Ultimate and since it takes so long you'll probably be close to Ultra on many Commons, would be extra scammy and annoying to find one of those in your guaranteed Chest as you're basically losing the ST you'd gotten by maxing it normally plus not that leap in progression as you were close anyway

@@kirakira9906 I think you severely overestimate how much "someone who doesn't play a lot" plays. 10-15 matches per day is 45 minutes to an hour of gameplay per day, when I think of "someone that doesn't play much" I think like 1-3 hours a week.

Lucky finds are really easy to get now for some reason, I've gotten 2-3 in a match and its ususally because I'm running suppliers and waited to get characters until the 2 minute mark. Super busted though cause it catapults me to 1st 😂

I find for getting lots of energon picking Greg or goblin is best at the beginning so you can open as many chests as possible. Also Quick Tip: Optimus Prime drop an extra cube when picked from a chest

Yes, make sure you are killing Megatron tanks because they drop a Rage Spell and a Key. Don't just stand in front and make sure you are moving just a little between each of his shots.

i found investing in speedsters in this mode always wins. cause if you keep speedsters x heals and trader people may thirst you but it inevitably helps cause you'll get lucky finds that just make you infinitely stronger instantly while they were mixing so hard. i easily got 1-3 everytiime

This update is definitely very controversial. It’s good if you are solely focused on Supers/Ultras. But for those of you who don’t understand why people (including me) don’t like it. With the release of Ultimates, the endgame is quite literally 10x harder and these star chests don’t guarantee an Ultra you want to build toward an Ultimate. And if you want to say, tHeSe StAr cHeSts gIve uLtiMateS! No. It’s not guaranteed who you want, and it’s not even close to have a good chance to get them. You need to open an average of 150 Star Chests to guarantee your Ultimate. Edit: This is definitely considered a “cash grab” update. Idk how SB would fix this. I think they should reevaluate the Gem Pass for an Ultra of your choice, or add a wishlist system to the Star Chests so when your guaranteed Ultra or Ultimate comes, it will be your wishlist character to make squad building more legitimate and easier.

Chest tickets by a mile. At the max level to open a star chest it costs 150,000 coins to get the equivalent of 100 babies. This is averaging to about 1500 per unit. 2000 coins can get you 6-10 units, while also letting you evolve them at lower levels, giving you some star chest points. Overall it is absolutely not worth it to spend coins on star chests, chest tickets are way more efficient.

Major caveat - every 10 star chests is a guaranteed 4 star (worth 10 different 3 stars) so basically every 10 chests you open you get 19 different 3 star units, so you average about 1.9 3 star units per chest, so it now comes out to around 800 coins per unit in star chest. Slightly better rates but still way worse rates than chest tickets (200-350 coins per unit when used efficiently) and with the babies gotten from all those chest tickets you can get about 2/3 way to another star chest. Buying chest tickets is still over 2x cheaper than star chests.

after the update 1: game plays diffrent and more laggy, got hard time to addept . hate the shocky things and when squad stops walking. 2: me starchest did go from 100 to 500 instantly , i just hit squadluege again. claimed al my rewards before update. almost to impossible to get enough upgrades for the 500 chest... so atm i cant even enjoy the update. it feels like i did get punished because i was a active player before the update. last 2 weeks i did alot of super upgrades and i need them now..... one thing is for sure i stop spenden money on this game and find a new game where i montly spend some money on.

this update is horrid trash. To get 1 card to ultimate, if you play every time you have a chest, it will take over 4 months of playing and that is if you pull that card and that card only for 4 straight months, plus get all daily freebies the same card. To get to ultimate it takes 10,000 babies!!! Who did the math for this game? either the number of cards to level up the top ratings need to come down or the ability to pull top level cards or buy in the shop has to go up. I enjoy the game, but am getting wrecked since the update now that people can draw random 5 stars. and you have to spend $150 bucks to get the 10 keys to guarantee a level 4 card, that's insane. They just killed their own game. (Edited math)
